TeachTown is the leading provider of education solutions for students diagnosed with autism, developmental and intellectual disabilities, emotional disorders, and speech/language impairments. We are seeking a motivated, deadline-driven individual to join us as a full-time School Liaison for Curriculum and Assessment. The individual will be strong in writing, time-management, communication, and attention to detail; committed to creating content that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible (DEIA); experienced in teaching and writing school-based content (academic, social, behavioral, adaptive, etc.) for students with disabilities; and prepared to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
All applicants will be required to submit a writing sample with their application. Examples of writing samples are: curriculum content, Master’s thesis, classroom materials, functional behavior assessments or behavior intervention plans that do not include identifiable student information of any type.
Role & Responsibilities

Working with schools / school districts to support curriculum adopters and research projects by providing training, maintaining communication, supporting implementation, and helping to present opportunities and outcomes to administrators.

When given a short-term or long-term project, developing an aggressive but achievable project plan with carefully task-analyzed steps toward project goal

Working both independently on specific development tasks and collaboratively with the development team on broader curriculum planning, decision-making, and execution.

Systematically communicating project progress to Editorial Directors and other Curriculum Team members.

Troubleshooting project progress challenges and implementing effective solutions.

Writing classroom-based lesson plans (to be implemented by special education teachers) for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Targeted learning domains may include, but are not limited to: ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Adaptive Skills, Communication Skills, and Transition Skills. Lesson plans must address content area learning standards that will be specified in the curriculum scope and sequence. All lesson plan content must be adapted to meet the developmental needs of targeted student ability levels.

Creating technology-based lessons that provide instruction in specific content area learning standards using our proprietary lesson authoring software.

Creating classroom-based AND technology-based content and supports across learning domains (academic, social emotional, adaptive, cognitive, language development, behavioral) for children and young adults with moderate to severe disabilities, ages 18 months through 22 years.

Aligning classroom-based lesson plans and technology-based lessons to state and national standards.

Creating and designing assessments based on the classroom-based lesson plans and standards. Targeted learning domains may include, but are not limited to: ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Adaptive Skills, Communication Skills, and Transition Skills.

Selecting images for worksheets, technology-based lessons, and assessments. Images should be appropriate for the concepts and skills being taught as well as the age of the target population.
Required Education & Experience

Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field required

Minimum of 5 years of special education teaching experience with elementary, middle school, and/or high school students with disabilities, including academic content (i.e., ELA, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies) and/or a highly-specialized content area (i.e., speech language therapy, Transition skills).

At least 2 years of experience training teachers and/or implementing school- or district-wide initiatives to support student growth, including assessing the results of the initiatives.

At least 2 years of experience developing or evaluating curriculum.
Preferred Education & Experience

PhD or EdD preferred
