TeachTown is the leading provider of education solutions for students diagnosed with autism, developmental and intellectual disabilities, emotional disorders, and speech/language impairments.  Our growing team of professionals is seeking a part-time, contract User Experience (UX) Designer.  This individual will play a key role in the UI and UX design of TeachTown products. They will focus on the visual design of the TeachTown platform in support of the Product team.  The position is anticipated to operate 20-30 hours per week with a 3-5 month duration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop polished user interfaces and supporting visual assets 

  • Contribute to all phases of the design process; from task analysis, wireframing concepts and creating pixel-perfect visuals to final hand-off to engineering

  • Contribute to development and maintenance of a comprehensive design system

  • Work with our UX designer to create and conduct usability testing

  • Collaborate with the UX designer and other product leaders to achieve team goals

Required Experience:

  • A portfolio highlighting UX (wireframes/prototypes/other UX artifacts) and visual design work

  • At least 3+ years of experience of combined experience in user research, visual design and graphic design 

  • Customer focused decision making

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage time and expectations appropriately, and meet deadlines consistently

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • Proficiency using Figma, Adobe XD, Mockingbird or Fluid UI to wireframe and prototype

  • Proficiency using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and other design software to create beautiful visual assets

  • Extensive knowledge of graphic design and UI principles 

  • Strong understanding of Universal Design principles

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Adept at collecting, synthesizing, and incorporating stakeholder feedback

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience designing for web and complex software applications
