What we do
Since 1973, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) has been a leader in the movement to end sexual violence. BARCC empowers survivors of sexual violence to heal and provides education and advocacy for the social change needed to create cultures that prevent sexual violence. We rely on our dedicated, brilliant staff to do this important work, and our team is growing!

The role
Our Data and Evaluation team is looking for a new full-time Nonprofit Salesforce Administrator (with an internal title of Data Specialist). You’ll work closely with the Data Manager and other stakeholders to support staff, interns, and volunteers in the use of BARCC’s data tools and systems. This role will most notably configure and maintain BARCC’s Salesforce platform, which captures the scope of our organizational work and informs staff, funders, and other stakeholders of our impact. This role is integral in furthering BARCC’s mission of ending sexual violence through healing and social change.

Where and when you’ll work
BARCC's staff, operations, hours, and location vary by function, type of work, and work style. You’ll primarily work from our Cambridge office, located at 99 Bishop Allen Drive. You will occasionally travel to our Boston and Waltham offices.

This is a 40-hour, full-time position. You can expect to work regularly Monday through Friday. Occasionally you will provide training or support during evening and weekend hours, about four times per year planned with advanced notice. BARCC is open to discussing options such as flexibility in scheduling and occasional remote work.

What you’ll do
  • Respond to level-one user support requests from BARCCers (staff, interns, and volunteers). These  often include login reset requests, field visibility/access issues, and duplicate record merging.
  • Escalate issues as needed to higher level support, either internally or externally to vendors’ support queues.
  • Observe and communicate patterns seen in support requests and recommend further training of end users where necessary with Data Manager.
  • Carry out routine Salesforce administrative tasks, including reassigning records in response to staff, intern, and volunteer changes; manage user licenses; maintain security; assist with building point-and-click functionality; and test new features.
  • Create and deliver engaging training to existing or new users/groups, providing one-on-one trainings as needed, and update materials based on system updates and changes.
  • Create and maintain User Manual content.
  • Build reports for end users to assess fundraising metrics, build mailing lists, publish to dashboards, communicate program deliverables to funders and prospective funders, as well as daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly statuses for programs and departments.
  • Communicate with program and department managers on ongoing collaborations, including report building and new feature development.
  • Attend and participate in departmental, organization-wide, and other meetings.
  • Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  • Perform other duties as needed or directed; some occasional evening/weekend hours required.

You’ll bring
  • At least one year of experience as a Salesforce administrator or advanced user.
  • At least one year of experience with report building, using sorts, filters, and merging tables on any platform.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Salesforce Administrator Certification a plus.
  • Experience with Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), nonprofit fundraising, or program administration a plus.
  • Experience with manipulating data using a spreadsheet tool (MS Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superb interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to translate complex terminology for greater understanding to all users, from beginner to advanced.
  • Superior customer service and problem-solving skills that intrinsically motivate you to support others.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm about learning new skills and systems.
  • Ability to independently identify necessary steps and tasks to meet goals and deadlines, proactively prioritizing and communicating progress.
  • A passion for BARCC’s mission of ending sexual violence through healing and social change.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion; evidence of cultural sensitivity in past employment and life experiences.

  • The most compassionate, supportive, and fun-loving colleagues around—who will shower you with warm welcomes, funny memes, and regular shout-outs for your contributions.
  • An investment in your health, well-being, and professional development through competitive benefit offerings, generous time off policies, professional development funds and opportunities, and ongoing improvements to proactively manage vicarious trauma and mental health.
