    Since 1973, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) has been a leader in the movement to end sexual violence. BARCC empowers survivors of sexual violence to heal and provides education and advocacy for the social change needed to create cultures that prevent sexual violence.     The role
    Our Organizational Development team is looking for a full-time Special Projects Manager. 

    Do  you have superior project management skills with a knack for pulling complex elements into a great collaborative product? Then this may be the role for you! We have an exciting opportunity to  manage and develop a variety of products (curricula, handbooks, policies) for BARCC’s ever-changing special projects.  The largest special project BARCC is leading is called the MASS Collaboration. It is a collaboration between BARCC, the Boston Center for Independent Living, the Mass Bay Transit Authority, and MBTA Transit Police to improve response and services for survivors with disabilities. Past examples of special projects include working with law enforcement and other stakeholders to develop a 40-hour, interactive, multimedia curriculum for new sexual assault investigators; and working with a Portuguese-speaking community-based agency to develop an arts and theatre curriculum on responding to reports of sexual violence.  

    As a manager in the Organizational Development team, you will  work closely with the Director of Organizational Development and our team, including Human Resources, Data and Evaluation, and an Innovation Lab to develop products to improve the organizational effectiveness and services of BARCC. In this role, you will have an unparalleled  opportunity to contribute to the sexual violence prevention and response field and further BARCC’s mission of ending sexual violence through healing and social change. 

    Where and when you’ll work
    BARCC's staff, operations, hours, and location vary by function, type of work, and work style. You’ll primarily work from our Cambridge office, located at 99 Bishop Allen Drive with regular travel required to partner agencies. 

    This is a 40-hour, full-time position. You can expect to work regularly Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.   Additional hours may be required at times to meet deadlines. BARCC is open to discussing options such as flexibility in scheduling and some remote work. 
     
    What you’ll do

    • Plan and oversee all aspects of identified special projects ensuring completion of deliverables by deadline and within budget.
    • Coordinate day-to-day operations of project activities which may include meetings, trainings, events, etc. 
    • Write, design and develop a wide range of products for internal and external use such as curricula, guidance documents, policies, fact sheets, etc. in collaboration with BARCC staff and partner agencies
    • Identify and manage consultant and vendor contracts to support development of products (e.g. graphic designers, video production companies)
    • Plan and facilitate inclusive meetings with external project partners that draw  out the perspectives and expertise of each participant and lead to consensus decision making.
    • Manage positive relationships with partner agencies balancing different perspectives and needs.
    • Ensure that all grant requirements are met including communicating with grant assigned technical assistance providers and completing grant reports.


    You’ll bring 

    • 3-5 years project management and product development experience, preferably at a nonprofit.
    • Enthusiasm and curiosity for working on and learning about a wide range of topics.
    • Highly detail oriented, organized, and able to simultaneously manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Project management style that is inclusive, collaborative, deadline-driven, and flexible.
    • Superior writing skills with demonstrated ability to create materials specific to varying audiences, including ability to convey information in plain language.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships and balance multiple perspectives/needs.
    • Proficiency in Google Docs and Slides; Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Knowledgeable about adult learning theory and universal training design preferred.
    • Graphic design or other design skills a plus.

      Starting salary range and benefits
      $55,000–$65,000, depending on experience and skills. The total compensation package includes a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vacation, sick time, and other coverage options.

      A sample product which demonstrates your ability to write in plain language and design a product for a specific audience. Preference for curricula, but other products such as guidance documents or handbooks acceptable. You must be the primary author of the product. If the product was created collaboratively and/or hired vendors such graphic designers assisted with the product be clear about your role, who else was involved, and how they contributed.
