Director of Donor Relations, Intersect Illinois

Opportunity 

Intersect Illinois is looking for a seasoned Director of Donor Relations with a demonstrated track record of building and implementing effective fundraising strategies with both corporate and individual donors.  The Director reports directly to, and works closely with, the CEO to reach Intersect’s fundraising goals. 

Our ideal candidate is a skilled manager, communicator, and leader who is passionate about Intersect Illinois’ mission and will represent Intersect to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity. The candidate must be comfortable working collaboratively with the executive team and board of directors in addition to their support staff. 

 

Objectives of this Role 

  • Promote awareness about Intersect Illinois’ mission 

  • Expand existing donor base 

  • Coordinate and execute fundraising campaigns to meet the organization’s targets 

  • Maintain existing relationships with individual and corporate donors, including acknowledgment and recognition 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Research potential donors, foundations, and other development opportunities 

  • Represent the organization’s mission to donors, potential donors, and other external stakeholders 

  • Work closely with stakeholders including executives and board members to strategize and execute a strong, impactful timeline of contribution metrics 

  • Approve all written fundraising and outreach materials 

  • Supervise donor event coordination 

  • Maintain database of donors, track gifts, and fulfill reporting requirements to all stakeholders 

 

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Minimum of five years fundraising experience 

  • Experience managing databases and working with fundraising software 

  • Proven track record of planning and initiating successful fundraising strategies 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Attention to detail 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline 

  • Experience managing a development team 

  • Experience initiating and maintaining relationships with donors
