Marketing Team
The marketing team at Intersect Illinois is responsible for effectively communicating and marketing the state’s brand and the organization’s mission to bring new jobs, investment and economic prosperity to Illinois. The department develops communication to ensure that Illinois is top of mind for companies making location decisions, and that Intersect Illinois is known as a key partner and resource for doing business throughout the state. The team works to educate and collaborate with partners across the state so they are familiar with Intersect Illinois and the services it provides.
Opportunity
The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Marketing Director and is responsible for brand material development; social media planning, management and tracking; website and presentation content development and other communications initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Develop, monitor and track social media content
• Develop content for website, presentations, PR pitches, newsletter, annual report and other materials
• Assist in building Intersect Illinois’ brand and plan for brand awareness
• Help execute marketing strategy (including earned and paid media placements)
• Assist with media relations
• Work closely with business development, and research teams to develop research products into marketing materials and market the team’s work and services
• Collaborate with partners throughout the state on marketing materials
• Identify new and innovative channels and outlets for communication
• Track economic development news and develop reporting system
Knowledge/Experience
• Functional knowledge: experience in marketing communication; proven experience working on marketing campaigns; an understanding of economic development landscape and business attraction and retention
• Proficient in: written and oral communications, social media and digital marketing, earned and paid media planning
• Experience: 3 years of relevant marketing/communications/PR experience
• Attributes: creative and detail-oriented, excellent writer, effective time management skills with strong ability to multitask, team player, ability to work on multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced environment
• Skills/knowledge: deep understanding of (and interest in) the Illinois economy and business community; familiarity in place marketing welcomed
• Degree: Bachelor’s in marketing, communications, journalism or related field required
