Global Brand and Export Development is a food brokerage and international sales and marketing company. We partner with specialty food brands to expand their reach across international markets, working closely with distributors, importers, freight forwarders, and global retail partners to drive sustainable growth.
This 12-week paid summer internship places you directly within our Export team, where you will gain hands-on experience supporting international sales operations, strengthening data integrity, and building structured processes that improve how we serve global retail partners.

Internship Overview:
This summer internship focuses heavily on supporting international sales through improved data accuracy, structured reporting, and sustainable operational processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Updating and restructuring the master customer and freight forwarder contact database to ensure accuracy and sustainability
- Verifying internal and external customer information through collaboration with the sales team and external partners
- Developing a documented standard operating procedure for maintaining and updating contact records
- Tracking new warehouse item authorizations on a monthly basis, including identifying meat and non-meat items to ensure proper classification
- Supporting new business development in direct export tracking and identifying opportunities to improve visibility and reporting
- Utilizing Excel tools including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and structured data organization
- Assisting with sales analysis reviewing Power BI dashboards and category level tracking for international retail partners
- Shadowing export sales representatives to understand account management and relationship development
- Supporting preparation for export sales trips and client meetings
Final Internship Project
The intern will complete and present a data driven improvement initiative to the Export leadership team. The final presentation should clearly demonstrate measurable improvement in organization, efficiency, or reporting clarity.
The project may include:
- A redesigned master contact tracking system supported by a documented SOP
- A structured reporting framework that improves tracking and clarity for Direct Exports
- A repeatable sales analysis framework for tracking category performance with international retail partners, supported by clear documentation and an SOP to ensure long term team adoption
Qualifications / Additional Skills
This internship is best suited for a detail oriented, analytical college student who enjoys working with data, improving processes, and understanding how international sales and retail distribution operate behind the scenes.
We are looking for someone with the following skills and attributes:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, including graduating seniors pursuing a degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Data Analytics, Operations, Business or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in international business, global sales, retail distribution, or cross border market expansion
- Strong interest in understanding how sales data, retail performance, and operational processes support international growth
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and structured data organization
- Comfortable working with large datasets and identifying patterns or inconsistencies
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Organized and process oriented with the ability to build structured systems or workflows
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present data and insights in a clear, logical, and concise format
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on research driven projects
- Experience using Power BI or other data visualization tools preferred
- Prior internship experience in operations, analytics, logistics, or international business
- Experience creating or documenting standard operating procedures is a plus
- Located near Lisle, Illinois and able to work 4 days in office and 1 day remote
