This is a remote role but candidates must live in California for the occasional in-person meetings at our Southern California headquarters (Arcadia, CA).

Position Summary 

The Program Management Office (PMO) Manager is responsible for leading the execution of a portfolio of EV charging station construction programs/projects, ensuring their delivery within contracted schedules and budgets. This role is highly execution-oriented, requiring a results-driven leader with deep expertise in Programs/Project financials, cash flow forecasting, schedule management, and variance analysis.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with experience in construction, preferably in industries such as renewable energy, distributed generation, or EV charging infrastructure. As a player/coach, the PMO Manager will manage Programs/Projects as needed while also leading and mentoring a team of Program/Project managers and support staff. Success in this role requires strong leadership, a hands-on approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Responsibilities 

Program/Project Execution & Financial Oversight:

  • Drive the execution of a portfolio of EV charging station construction Programs/Projects with a focus on financial performance, schedule adherence, and cash flow accuracy.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee Program/Project financial budgets and schedules, ensuring alignment between forecasts and actuals.

  • Lead budget and schedule variance analysis, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.

  • Manage cost controls through detailed planning, vendor negotiations, resource optimization, and proactive risk mitigation.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of Program/Project Managers and support staff, ensuring high performance and accountability.

  • Facilitate the adoption of new processes, tools, and performance guidelines to improve Program/Project delivery.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned and implementing enhancements to Program/Project execution processes.

Programs/Project Delivery:

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to create and manage Program/Project schedules and milestones.

  • Identify and mitigate risks, troubleshoot challenges, and remove barriers to ensure Programs/Projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in scope.

  • Oversee stakeholder communication, ensuring consistent and transparent updates to customers, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry regulations, standards, and best practices.

Financial Reporting & Documentation:

  • Create and manage Program/Project cash flow and milestone payment forecasts, aligning them with funding program requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Program/Project information in Program/Project management software.

  • Oversee Program/Project documentation to ensure key records are captured, organized, and stored throughout the Programs/Project lifecycle.

  • Analyze and report on Program/Project financial health, providing actionable recommendations to optimize results.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison between the company, customers, and vendors, addressing questions, concerns, and complaints in a timely manner.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality, reliable Program/Project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

  • PMP Certification - Active
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience as a Program/Project manager in construction or energy sectors.

  • Deep knowledge of construction best practices, Program/Project management methodologies, and financial management principles.

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale construction Program/Projects, with a focus on schedule and budget performance.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, with expertise in variance analysis and risk management.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Program/Project management software tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Smartsheet and/or SiteTracker.

  • Experience in renewable energy, distributed generation, or EV charging infrastructure Programs/Projects.

  • Track record of implementing process improvements and leading organizational change.

  • Hands-on experience managing and optimizing Program/Project cash flow forecasts.

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to review and facilitate technical deliverables.
