The Role


Edovo’s Infrastructure Team designs and operates the network services that deliver Edovo’s secure digital platform to jails and prisons across the United States.  This includes backend hosting systems, wide area transport, customer premise installations, end to end security and automation and management solutions.


We focus on security, stability, scalability, fault tolerance, and automation. We strive to provide our customers and internal teams with 100% system and service availability.


The Senior Devops Engineer at Edovo has a unique opportunity to deliver technology in the most challenging of places, the US prison system. You’ll be designing new solutions, and solving interesting problems in environments where modern technology has not gone before with the freedom and ownership to put your skills to the test.  And hey, you might just help change someone’s life for the better.


GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work closely with engineering teams to provide world class managed infrastructure.

  • Work with a focused, passionate team to design Edovo’s next generation system and network architectures.

  • Architect, Design, and build Edovo’s Devops toolchain enabling  reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. This responsibility covers on premises, Datacenter, and cloud.  

  • Participate in “on-call” rotation for the infrastructure group


PROJECTS YOU’LL WORK ON

  • Design and build automated provisioning systems

  • Design tools to automate the provisioning and maintenance of network devices

  • Design tools to automate security updates, user account management, and reporting needs.

  • Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Business

Qualifications


MUST-HAVES

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or 4 years’ equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in system administration, virtualization, cloud offerings and devops.

  • An extreme desire to discover, learn and work with new and innovative infrastructure technology hardware, software and services

  • Tenacity, ownership over projects and professional development, and a proactive, collaborative problem-solving spirit

  • Passion for Edovo’s mission

  • Excitement to learn from and solve challenges with our constituents by working with staff, students, friends & family of the incarcerated


TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of one or more Infrastructure automation tools like Ansible, Chef and Salt.

  • Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services running production workloads

  • Hands on experience in production virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, KVM, Openstack)

  • Linux system administration (Ubuntu / CentOS / Redhat)

  • Windows System Administration (2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016)

  • Scripting in Python, Ruby, Shell or equivalent


BONUS POINTS FOR

  • Previous startup experience

  • Experience in network administration.  

  • Experience in criminal justice reform, social justice, adult education, or telecommunications

  • Experience working, volunteering, or personally impacted by the jail/prison system
