Cantey EDU provides schools with standardized testing technology so they can focus on educating students. Maybe that job description sounds boring. Trust me - this job is not boring!

We are based out of Charleston; SC and our company is growing at around 30% a year. We’ve been doing this for 5 years and things are looking better for next year. What do we do? We provide school districts with testing technology (hardware and software), quality control services, pre-testing, ongoing technical support during testing, extensive logistics and planning, and coordination for school districts across the United States. We are in 17 states currently.

As we grow, we will need additional people to coordinate all of these moving parts. This person will report to the Cantey EDU Director who has been part of the team for three years and has done a remarkable job. He’s funny but gets things done with no messing around. The purpose of this job is to help him, help the company grow, and show the world that you can help manage project logistics.

Here is what we are looking for:

Although we are a technology company, this job requires more organization and logistical skills than core technical abilities. If you are not very detailed focused, please stop reading now. Seriously: if you just skimmed that sentence quickly, just stop. For those of you still here, the job responsibilities include:

Maintain a master list of all inventory which includes thousands of laptops, networking equipment, cables, cellular wireless cards, packing boxes, and other items. Basically, it’s a lot of stuff that needs to be shipped across the US and back while being tracked the entire time. We can’t lose this- it’s expensive. This includes detailed labeling and check-in/check-out systems for all equipment.

Follow the detailed lists and instructions for imaging laptops/cloning hard drives. Our tech team will show you what to do. You will need to follow those directions and ask questions if you have them. If you do it the wrong way on 300 laptops…you have done it the wrong way on 300 laptops. We are all here to help but you just need to be careful.

We will need your help in “testing the test” to ensure that, when a student gets their test, things run smoothly. This testing is critical to the success of our service.

Booking venues (hotels, conference spaces, etc) for the testing to take place. This includes managing relationships with sales reps of the venues. You will execute all the necessary paperwork and following up with the venue to-do lists. They forget things so we have to triple check on the details and the plan.

Travel onsite as needed in various states. The travel is 20-30% of the job, mostly in South Carolina during the late spring and early winter.

Miscellaneous office tasks. Some will be fascinating and uplifting… some menial and boring… all still important. When it’s testing time, there are a lot of computers to be loaded into boxes and carried to and from the UPS folks. Stairs are involved. All of this comes with the territory.

We don’t do a lot of hand-holding. Not just because it’s weird to hold hands in the office! We just don’t have time. You need to be able to pick things up and run with it.

You will need:

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

A reliable car which can be used for work. You will be transporting computer labs and setting them up.

A smartphone which can be used for work.

Be able to lift up to five laptops at a time while traversing upstairs (50lbs).

Be willing to travel during the testing windows (spring and fall) on an as-needed basis. Some travel may be in South Carolina and some may be in other states. We are not sure how much travel will be involved but we know that travel will be involved. You will not be reimbursed for driving around Charleston, but you will be reimbursed for traveling to set up and remove computer labs outside of Charleston.

We want someone for about 40 hours a week. During the late spring testing season, this will require more time but, during the slow months, it may require less time. Big picture- when it’s go time, we’re very busy (December through August). When it’s between the testing cycles, we slow down and spend time planning.

I know that’s a lot to read. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you! No recruiters, please.
