POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director, Strategy & Operations shapes the systems and practices that enable Changent to advance its mission and create lasting impact for communities. The role leads business operations, improves operating rhythms, oversees enterprise initiatives, manages risk and business continuity, and brings clarity to complex organizational work.

 

The Director connects strategy, business intelligence, and partnerships to help Changent make informed decisions and act on its priorities. Through analytics, market insight, operational knowledge, and purposeful relationships, the role helps Changent adapt to change, pursue opportunity, and build the organizational capacity needed to extend its impact.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

50% | Business Operations

  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support organizational objectives and priorities.
  • Establish operating rhythms, management practices, and enterprise processes that support effective execution across the organization.
  • Oversee enterprise initiatives from planning through implementation to track progress, address issues, and close the loop on decisions and commitments.
  • Provide oversight of cross-functional initiatives and resolve barriers that affect progress toward defined objectives.
  • Identify process gaps, workflow issues, and operational challenges and work alongside functional leaders to improve processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Shape and improve operational practices that strengthen efficiency, accountability, communication, and collaboration.
  • Develop reporting and other tools that give leadership visibility into implementation, operational performance, risks, and emerging issues.
  • Lead risk management and business continuity activities, including risk identification, mitigation planning, continuity planning, and periodic review.
  • Oversee change management activities and implementation efforts for new initiatives, processes, and organizational changes.
  • Manage budgets associated with assigned strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Address unexpected operational challenges, assess their organizational impact, and coordinate solutions with the appropriate functional leaders.
  • Support adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and company policies within areas of responsibility.

35% | Strategy & Business Intelligence

  • Support executive leadership in enterprise strategic planning, priority-setting, and decision-making.
  • Analyze organizational, operational, market, and other relevant data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Translate data, research, market intelligence, and stakeholder input into insights that inform strategic priorities and decision-making.
  • Evaluate strategic options, trade-offs, and potential implications to support executive decision-making.
  • Assess market, policy, funding, competitive, and industry developments and translate findings into strategic insights.
  • Leverage data analytics and forecasting tools to support business analysis, operational modeling, and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop business cases, strategic analyses, executive presentations, board materials, and other materials that support strategic decisions and organizational planning.

 

15% | Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and vet partnership opportunities based on strategic fit, organizational value, and potential impact.
  • Develop business cases and recommendations for strategic partnerships, initiatives, and new opportunities.
  • Develop partnership plans that define objectives, roles, responsibilities, and expected outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders involved in partnership development and implementation.
  • Research potential partnerships, emerging opportunities, and external developments to inform partnership decisions.
  • Measure partner performance against agreed objectives, commitments, and results.
  • Review partnership arrangements and recommend whether to renew, modify, or end based on performance and organizational priorities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in strategy, operations, business analysis, organizational effectiveness, management consulting, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of business operations, process improvement, risk management, business continuity, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action through operational planning, initiative oversight, process improvement, and cross-functional execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex information, identify patterns, and inform business decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging business intelligence, analytics, forecasting, and operational modeling to inform organizational decisions.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning and market intelligence, including the ability to assess external developments, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities.
  • Experience developing business cases, strategic analyses, and executive materials that inform organizational decisions.
  • Experience developing and managing external partnerships, assessing opportunities, establishing expectations, and evaluating partnership performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex information.
  • Relationship-building skills with the ability to navigate competing priorities and move work forward across functions.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive organizational, financial, strategic, and external information.
  • Proficiency with data analytics, business intelligence, and productivity tools used for analysis, reporting, forecasting, and executive decision support.
