POSITION OVERVIEW
At Changent, the Financial Analyst plays an important role in turning data into insight. This position works closely with senior leaders to gather information, analyze trends, and build financial models that inform decisions on both ongoing business needs and new opportunities.
The role is engaged in financial planning and analysis across grants, projects, annual budgets, and multi‑year forecasts. Success requires a strong grounding in financial and accounting concepts, along with the ability to apply practical techniques for analysis, planning, and control. We’re looking for someone with a natural curiosity - eager to dig into the numbers, uncover their meaning, and gain insight into business issues while helping shape the future of our organization and the communities we serve.
This is a one‑year temporary position with Changent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Analysis
- Build and maintain financial models of different aspects of the business and provide recommendations on pricing and budgets based on such models.
- Help develop and implement new financial dashboards and reports to improve data visibility and drive efficiency.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements accordingly.
- Make recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
- Participate in analysis and documentation of financial processes and recommend improvements and efficiencies.
- Interpret and apply corporate financial policies, government legislation and accounting theory.
Budgetary Responsibilities
- Coordinate with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, new business planning, relevant regulatory requirements, and operating forecasts.
- Assist all departments in the development of the annual budget, grant budgets planning, and other corporate financial requirements.
Accounting Functions
- Evaluate moderately complex grant and funding plans, operating records, and financial statements.
- Assist in routine accounting duties and control functions including data input, account review and reconciliation, and completing general ledger entries on an “as needed” basis.
- Serve as contingent back-up to others in the department with routine accounting processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience, required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in financial reporting.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in fiscal budgeting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in preparing and analyzing complex financial statements.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and financial systems.
- Intermediate skills in PowerPoint; basic skills in Word and Outlook.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience with Jet Reporting is preferred.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred.
- Experience using Questica/Budget Pro management application is preferred.
- Grant Management and payroll experience is preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position reports to the Manager, Finance and has no direct reports.
