Our VP of Operations will be:

A proven people leader experienced in building high-performance teams, the VP of Operations will lead a multi-disciplinary team of 20+ employees over the next 3 years while delivering operational excellence. With a deep understanding of securities handling and processing, the VP of Operations is able to organize cross-functional groups towards a cohesive and aligned strategy for the benefit of Odyssey’s clients and shareholders.

In tandem with other senior leaders at Odyssey, the VP of Operations will execute and improve Odyssey’s operating model which centers around efficiency, automation and adherence to compliance. They will also partner with client-facing teams to support clients, including participation as a subject matter expert (SME), Risk Committee deliberations, and other operational committees.

Key Accountabilities

  • Delivering operational excellence, including:
    • Building the Operations group into a top-tier team; aligning Odyssey’s various functional teams around the Operations vision; building and expanding on existing internal knowledge centers; driving and implementing system and process improvements; identifying monitoring and measurements; exploring partnerships; and building effective communication channels. 
  • Managing business and regulatory risks, including:
    • Controlling costs through effective management of resources; identifying and driving opportunities for digitization and automation; collaborating with compliance and regulatory teams to enhance risk and control frameworks.
  • Oversee strategic planning and ownership of results, including:
    • Strategic consultation and assessment for continuous improvement; support of business optimization for Operations; partnering with Executive leaders to ensure effective collaborations; serve as the voice and passion for Odyssey’s operations team.
  • Effective people and stakeholder relationship management, including:
    • Enhancing a high-performance culture; managing and coaching employees; championing diversity and inclusion to create an inclusive environment; attracting and developing high performance professionals and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience

  • University degree
  • Deep knowledge of the securities industry
  • Experience in finance, banking or trust companies is an asset
  • Ability to lead a team with a busy work environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to work as a team and independently
  • Pro-active attitude and “how can I help?” perspective
