VB Spine is seeking a Senior Inventory Accountant who is responsible for managing and analyzing inventory transactions, cost of goods sold (COGS), and related variances to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and internal policies. This position supports the spine division’s operational and financial objectives by providing detailed inventory reporting and insights. The role requires strong collaboration with operations, supply chain, and finance teams, as well as an understanding of inventory flows in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Lead monthly inventory close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and COGS reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory activity across manufacturing sites, 3PLs, warehouses, and field locations, ensuring accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
  • Maintain and reconcile the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Support physical inventories and cycle counts, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards (SOX, FDA/ISO).
  • Prepare and deliver inventory and COGS reporting and insights for management, FP&A, and auditors.
  • Assist with standard cost updates, annual cost roll processes, and capitalized inventory equipment tracking.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

 

What You Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in inventory or cost accounting.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, inventory valuation, cost flows, standard costing, bills of materials, and production order accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with JDE or a major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment—medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar—highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets, spot trends, and communicate insights clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational strength, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SOX requirements and FDA-regulated environments is a plus.

Compensation: 

Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, with additional factors like territory requirements, qualifications, and performance taken into account.  Final compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis and considers a variety of factors, including experience level, skillset, and market conditions.
