Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
Description
The Director of FP&A is responsible for overseeing the financial planning, reporting and analysis platforms of the Company and its subsidiaries. This is an analytically-intensive role that also demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as the Director of FP&A regular interfaces with other groups in the financial community, the department leaders of the Company, the Company’s Board of Managers, the Private Equity Sponsor and its Operating Partner. Your high-level goal will be to help guide the Company and its leadership towards targeted business performance, through an in-depth understanding of operating performance and financial results – and the levers that impact and integrate both.
Responsibilities
· Planning and Reporting:
o Oversee the financial strategic planning of the Company and its subsidiaries, evaluating performance on a monthly / quarterly / annual basis and identifying areas for improvement and potential risks
o Alongside VP of Finance and Accounting, lead annual budgeting process, coordinating with individual department heads to integrate operating plans with bottom-up financial planning
o Work with operating leaders in the Company to ensure Operational Plans and Agendas are tightly integrated with Financial Plans
o Construct monthly reporting packages for operating teams, including detailed commentary on major revenue and margin variances to prior periods and budget, and thorough analysis of operating performance
o Assist other department leaders in calculating and reporting certain operational metrics on a monthly basis
· Development of Analysis Platforms and Capabilities (examples):
o Extract detailed volume, revenue, cost and other operating data out of disparate operating systems and synthesize into consolidated working files for analysis, reporting and decision support
o Recognize patterns in Company volume, revenue, and margins, and recommend solutions to any problem areas
o Analyze transaction volume and payroll to build labor capacity planning models
o Calculate monthly/quarterly commissions and ensure timely payment to commission recipients
o Perform other ad hoc financial analyses as required
· External Reporting and Controls
o Construct monthly reporting packages for Company’s lender and board of managers, including detailed commentary on major revenue and margin variances to prior periods and budget
o Periodically interface with private equity sponsor on other critical reports, analyses, and improvement projects
o Monitor debt metrics and compliance with credit agreement terms and leverage covenants
o Monitor compliance with internal control processes and help identify any areas for improvement
o Work alongside VP of Finance to coordinate and efficiently complete annual third-party financial audit
Anticipated Reporting Relationships
· Report to VP of Finance and Accounting
· Responsible for team of financial analysts
· Interface with Accounting Team (G/L accountants, Billing and A/R, Payables and A/P)
· Interface heavily with other operating leaders and functions in the Company
· Interface as needed with Operating Partner, Board of Managers, and Private Equity Sponsor
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other relevant field; ( MBA degree, CPA or similar designation preferred but not required)
· A minimum of 3-6 years’ experience in financial management or accounting
· Firm understanding of GAAP accounting principles
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (prefer experience with Pivot Tables, Index + Match, Vlookup / Hlookup, Data Tables, VBA Macros, etc.)
· Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and gain familiarity with various technology and accounting systems
· Interest and capability to understand nuances of operations in all functions of the company and how they interact with financial results
· Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities
· Above average organizational and time management skills
