Illuminate is seeking an exceptional Licensed Medical Aesthetician to join our team and offer concierge-level patient care in our Palo Alto Medspa. You'll be a part of a collaborative team that values professionalism, teamwork, and growth.


Schedule

Classification: Part-time or Full-time
Availability: Fixed Weekly Schedule of 3 or 4 days a Week
Hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm daily
Location: Illuminate Plastic Surgery – Palo Alto
Compensation: Hourly + Commission



Description

The Licensed Medical Esthetician is responsible for the delivery of elective skin care services to patients in a clinical and medical spa setting. This position works under the supervision of the physicians and clinical supervisor to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. The esthetician provides customized HydraFacial skincare treatments, patient education, and product recommendations designed to enhance skin health and patient satisfaction.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current state-issued esthetician or cosmetologist license
  3. 2 years’ experience in a clinic environment, plastic surgery or medical spa as an aesthetician

Requirements, Skills, and Abilities

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  2. Engage in moderate to heavy walking, pushing, pulling, crouching, bending, stretching, and twisting.
  3. Ability to carry up to 25 pounds.

Technical Abilities

  1. Ability to use computer with Windows Operating System for daily tasks, including Email, Word and Microsoft Teams.
  2. Ability to use Electronic Medical Record (PatientNOW)
  3. Comfort with internet websites for ordering.

Availability

  1. Reliable Transportation
  2. Ability to work 5 days per week in the office.
  3. Available to travel between Palo Alto and San Jose offices if necessary.

Immunizations and Tests

  1. TB Test (done annually)
  2. Tetanus
  3. Yearly Influenza
  4. Hep B

Environmental Hazards and Job Conditions

Exposure to:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required based on procedure.

Job Duties & Requirements

HydraFacial

  1. Experience and knowledge of equipment including proper handling, sanitation, maintenance, and operation of Hydrafacial machines and related skincare attachments and devices.
  2. Strong understanding of facial anatomy, skin types, and common dermatological conditions to customize HydraFacial treatments safely and effectively.
  3. Ability to perform comprehensive client consultations to determine skincare goals, assess contraindications, and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
  4. Proficiency in performing advanced facial treatments, including exfoliation, extraction, hydrations, and infusion processes as well as the safe delivery of chemical peels to the face and body according to clinical protocols.
  5. Maintain a clean, organized, and sterilized treatment environment in compliance with state board and spa safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrated sales ability to promote skincare products, service packages, and ongoing treatment plans.
  2. Seeks advice and supervision of physician as required on treatment protocols and notifies the physician of any patient noncompliance.
  3. Responsible for the coordination of any correspondence to patients regarding their skin care treatment plan, product usage, or home care instructions.
  4. Maintains patient medical records detailing all treatment procedures, elective products, medication history, and educational materials received
  5. Take before and after photos of patient for the medical record. 
  6. Document every action in PatientNOW, either in an encounter note or in the Communications Hub if appropriate. 
  7. Commitment to continuous education, staying current on skincare technologies, ingredients, and industry trends.
  8. Maintains treatment rooms, work, and common areas in compliance with OSHA standards.

Additional Duties

  1. Attend departmental and staff meetings as well as daily huddles.
  2. Proactively reach out to patients who have not returned to clinic appropriately. 
  3. Participate in Events and other Marketing activities

Participate as a Valuable Member of the Illuminate Team

  1. Work together with all members of the Illuminate Team to give the patient a truly concierge process.
  2. Continuously improve patient and coworker communication.

And other duties as assigned.

  1. Every Illuminate Team Member provides backup and assists other staff in completing their tasks.
  2. Management may assign projects or special tasks as needed.
