Are you passionate about reproductive justice, storytelling, and amplifying the voices of communities of color? SisterSong is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Kentucky Intern to provide vital support to our Kentucky State Coordinator. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, and community engagement while contributing to reproductive justice efforts across the state.

 

Qualifications: 

Basic reproductive health knowledge 

Interest in reproductive health, rights, and justice; gender justice; and/or other public interest issues

Solid research needs assessment, and data analysis skills; 

Experience working with birthing people, LGBTQ, youth and with communities of color.

Experience with facilitation or the ability to design and deliver workshops to diverse groups. 

Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills. 

Solid written and verbal communication skills. 

Demonstrated commitment to social justice, youth empowerment, and anti-oppression work. 

Versatility and flexibility are essential

Self Starter and motivator

Be available for in-person at the Louisville, KY office location

Demonstrate experience and judgment working both collaboratively and independently.

Flexibility, creativity, and initiative along with excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills

Responsibilities:

Raise awareness and mobilizing action around the issues of reproductive justice in various platforms and spaces.  

Attend state events, convenings, and meetings to mobilize communities.  

Attend conference calls with planning committees, coalitions/state partners alongside of KY Coordinator 

Work alongside the KY Coordinator in community building with reproductive healthcare professionals, community advocates, state officials and partners within your respective state to further expand the reproductive justice movement. 

Assist in evaluation and documentation of our impact and effectiveness of reproductive justice interventions and strategies.

Attend Reproductive Justice training 101 and 102 and other identified continuing education training opportunities

Assist in administrative duties, that include event reports, program surveys and evaluations, and other needed report/data generation related to programming. 

Educate and activate the community about reproductive freedom

Opportunity to develop and lead a small project

Assist in the development of educational, advocacy, and outreach activities, materials, and events

Asist in draft newsletter items, social media/website announcements, and other member communications pertaining to the state.

Under the direction of state coordinator, develop political education materials and supports

Assist with daily office functions, events, and other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Kentucky Coordinator.

Some work related programming occurs on evenings and weekends but notice will be provided. Also this is hybrid role and some work occurs in other parts of KY as well as in our KY office occasionally.
