SisterSong is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Communications & Digital Strategy Intern based in Atlanta, GA to support our mission of advancing reproductive justice through powerful narrative shift, strategic digital engagement, and culture-forward storytelling.

Position Summary

The Communications & Digital Strategy Intern plays a key role in supporting SisterSong’s Communications Team by uplifting our programs, campaigns, and initiatives through impactful storytelling and intentional digital strategy. This role works closely with the Communications Consultant and Communications Manager, supporting day-to-day communications operations, digital content creation, internal and external communications, and campaign coordination.

The ideal candidate brings a passion for reproductive justice, strong writing and organizational skills, and a deep commitment to shifting culture and narrative in service of liberation.

Duties

  • Work closely with the Communications Consultant and Communications Manager to support the development, scheduling, and execution of social media content, e-blasts, and newsletters.

  • Assist with drafting, editing, and proofreading written content for digital campaigns, blogs, website updates, and storytelling initiatives.

  • Support the creation and editing of graphics, videos, and other multimedia content aligned with SisterSong’s voice, values, and brand guidelines.

  • Provide administrative and organizational support to the Communications team, including occasional scheduling of meetings for the Communications Manager, note-taking, and document management (as needed).

  • Help track digital performance metrics such as social media engagement, email analytics, and website traffic.

  • Assist with monitoring press mentions, media inquiries, and maintaining internal communications trackers.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program, advocacy, and operations teams to ensure messaging alignment across all platforms.

  • Support digital campaign rollouts and key organizational moments, including awareness weeks, giving campaigns, and major organizational announcements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience or demonstrated interest in communications, digital media, social media, or a related field.

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

  • Proficiency in Canva, Google Workspace, and social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn).

  • Familiarity with Mailchimp, Squarespace, or similar digital tools is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of and commitment to reproductive justice, racial justice, and gender liberation.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, values-driven environment.

  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be based in or able to commute within the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Work Environment

This position is primarily remote with periodic in-person meetings, events, or activations in Atlanta and other SisterSong Related events through out the US.. SisterSong is committed to supporting staff well-being and will work with team members to ensure appropriate accommodations as needed.

Compensation & Hours

This internship pays $25/hour for up to 20 hours per week. The position is part-time and designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, digital strategy, and justice-centered storytelling.
