Background:
Family Connects International (FCI) is an independent 501c3 non-profit, that provides training and technical support on the implementation of the evidence-based Family Connects Model, developed at Duke University. Family Connects (FC) is a community-based program supporting new parents in caring for their newborns, offering physical assessments of the postpartum person and infant, addressing questions about caring for a newborn, providing supportive guidance, and helping them access any needed community services or resources.
Occupational Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Chief Advancement Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our efforts to support the organization’s continued growth and expanded impact. The Chief Advancement Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive Communications and Development Plans, ensuring a cohesive, results-driven, cross-organization approach for the future.
Key Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the organization’s leadership, including the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors, as well as other organization volunteers and staff to achieve the organization’s annual and long-term goals.

Develop and implement a comprehensive advancement strategy, inclusive of communications, marketing, development, and fundraising efforts.

Develop and lead a strategy to build a movement for Family Connects, increasing public awareness through unified brand and messaging efforts internally, with our community partners, and externally.

Ensure execution of fundraising plans to leverage the generosity of individuals, families, foundations, and corporate donors.

Oversee the development and execution of events, proposals, campaigns, solicitations, and reports.

Lead the marketing team in creating compelling content, managing digital and traditional media channels, and executing campaigns to enhance visibility and engagement.

Identify, develop, and implement new initiatives and opportunities to enhance and expand fundraising and marketing efforts.

Lead, develop, and mentor communications and development staff.

Serve as a representative and champion of Family Connects International at community events and in other public settings.

Work closely with the Board of Directors; lead the Development Committee, guiding strategy and driving fundraising efforts.

Develop and manage the advancement, development, and communications budget(s), ensuring effective allocation of resources.

Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the advancement strategy.
Required Qualifications:

At least 7 years of progressive experience with nonprofit development, fundraising, communications, strategy, or related fields.

Proven track record of successfully securing significant funding.

Track record as an effective communicator, including highly developed skills in writing and speaking; competence at crafting proposals, donor correspondence, and other kinds of materials; and the ability to communicate the organization’s mission and interests to a broad audience.

Receptive and responsive to feedback.

Experience leading and inspiring an internal team.

Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Administration, or related field.
Pay Band: $150,000-$175,000 per year
Physical Requirements:

Extended sitting (up to 8 hours per day).

Ability to work in different (changing) locations.

Drive in all types of weather.

Ability to travel by air, train, and car.
