Background:
Family Connects International (FCI) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, providing training and technical support for the implementation of the evidence-based Family Connects Model, developed at Duke University. Family Connects (FC) is a community-based program supporting new parents in caring for their newborns, offering physical assessments of the postpartum person and infant, addressing questions about caring for a newborn, providing supportive guidance, and helping them access any community services or resources needed.
Position Summary:
Family Connects International (FCI) is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to lead the design, development, and implementation of an integrated learning ecosystem that supports internal and external workforce development, program fidelity, and quality improvement across departments. Under the purview of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing leads FCI’s overarching education strategy. The Instructional Designer role will play a central role in shaping FCI’s education strategy and building a scalable, multi-functional Learning Management System (LMS) that serves internal teams and Partner agencies delivering the FCI program.
The Instructional Designer is a strategic and creative professional who can bridge program expertise, technology, and adult learning to deliver sustainable, high-impact educational solutions aligned with FCI’s mission.
Key Deliverables:

Lead the design and execution of FCI’s organization-wide learning strategy and education platform.

Architect, implement, and maintain a multi-user LMS that supports multiple roles and partner organizations.

Collaborate with subject-matter experts and leadership to translate content into structured, learner-centered experiences.

Develop competency-based learning pathways, onboarding programs, and performance support tools for staff and partners.

Input training materials and content into the LMS for easy access and navigation by participants.

Monitor LMS usage and engagement, making recommendations as needed.

Monitor user engagement, generate completion reports, and suggest improvements based on data.

Assist Subject Matter Experts with the ongoing development and updating of LMS offerings.

Manage multi-departmental education projects, including scope, timelines, and stakeholder engagement.

Manage all logistics for the LMS platform.

Analyze learning data and LMS metrics to evaluate program impact and satisfaction and inform continuous improvement.

Ensure accessibility, fidelity alignment, and compliance with accreditation or regulatory standards.

Stay informed about innovations in digital learning, implementation science, and public health education.

Organize virtual education sessions, including the FCI Learning series and webinars.
Qualifications:
Required:

Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Media Design, Adult Learning, or Organizational Development.

Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in instructional design or learning systems development.

Minimum 5 years’ experience with e-learning authoring tools and LMS administration.

Proven success in designing and implementing LMS platforms that serve multiple audiences.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-departmental projects and manage complex education initiatives.

Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models, and evaluation methods.

Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

Experience in healthcare, public health, or human services preferred.

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive education practices.

Knowledge and experience with the iSpring Learning management platform
Physical Requirements:

Extended sitting (up to 8 hours per day).

Pay Band: $85,000-$105,000
