As a Research Assistant in the Sirius chemistry group, you will be a contributor in a diverse team working on novel siRNA modalities, as well as oligo synthesis and conjugation. The ideal candidate will have experience with siRNA/Oligo therapeutics. in this role, you will work closely with colleagues to develop new drug designs built by Sirius, as well as synthesize compounds. You will be supporting the development of a next generation of RNA drugs and ensuring that the current generation reach the patients that need them. We are looking for innovators, thinkers and doers.

  • Supporting the synthesis, purification and characterization of organic compounds/oligonucleotides
  • Support ordering and general upkeep of RNA synthesizers and other related equipment
  • Perform synthesis projects as part of a team
  • Confident in analytical methods and analytical instrumentation [HPLC LC-MS MS NMR etc.]
  • Clearly document experimental workflows and results
  • Communicate findings to the team and management when required
  • Oversee day to day lab tasks
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree; relevant life sciences discipline; Degree in relevant Synthetic organic chemistry discipline preferred

  • 2+ years laboratory experience
  • Familiarity with siRNA, ASOs and gene silencing
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment.
  • Background in solid phase peptide and nucleotide chemistry
  • Biotech experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to independently design experiments, analyze complex data and interpret and present experimental results, required
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication
  • Excellent mathematical and computation skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and reasoning skills

Work Environment:

This will be a laboratory and office-based position that will require some non-standard working hours including early morning or later evening teleconferences to support global company programs.

  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
