Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA) is a national Black women-led, cross-sectoral, multi-disciplinary alliance. We center Black Mamas to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black Maternal Health, Rights, and Justice. We envision a world where Black Mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy. BMMA was created out of a need to form a national voice and coordinating entity that can hold space and serve as a platform for Black women-led initiatives that are working to address the issues that impact maternal health disparities and inequities using the birth and reproductive justice, and human rights framework. BMMA provides technical assistance, training, and capacity building for grassroots organizations, maternity care service providers (e.g., clinicians, midwives, doula networks and community health workers), academia, and the public health sector. We recognize that maternal mortality and morbidity is a global concern, and frame domestic maternal health policy and research within the global Black Feminist context.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Services Analyst to join our Workforce Development department on a full-time basis. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping the clinical arm of the department by conducting key literature reviews, environmental scans, site visits to community-based perinatal and reproductive health clinics and engaging in clinical partner outreach. The primary focus will be on identifying and building out perinatal and midwifery models of care and nursing service competencies, standards, and practices to inform, strengthen, and support BMMA's clinical interests in curating professional development and capacity-building resources to optimize workforce development trainings and programming specifically targeted to clinicians. Additionally, the Clinical Services Analyst will work closely with the Leadership team in engaging, tracking, and coordinating clinical services activities that involves partners in the Alliance and other external partners and stakeholders, including representing the organization at meetings and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in clinical analysis, literature reviews, and healthcare program development.
- Knowledge of midwifery models of care and nursing services.
- Familiarity with Black Feminist perspectives in health sciences, including operationalizing reproductive and birth justice and respectful maternity care tenets into service delivery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with workforce development in the healthcare sector is a plus.
- Experienced with using operational software and tools, including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, Asana, Salesforce, DocuSign, Zoom, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; keen attention to detail and accuracy in working with data.
- Self-starter with proven ability to work independently, as well as possessing a good level of emotional intelligence to work effectively with a small team in a start-up environment, and skilled in relationship and consensus-building.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Analysis

Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on topics such as perinatal and reproductive health, midwifery models of care, nursing services, and workforce development.

Stay informed on emerging trends, policies, and innovations in perinatal and reproductive health to guide program development.

Synthesize research findings to produce evidence-based recommendations and actionable insights.
Environmental Scans and Site Visits

Perform environmental scans to identify opportunities for clinical improvement and workforce development.

Plan and conduct site visits to community-based perinatal and reproductive health clinics to assess practices, identify challenges, and gather insights for enhancing clinical programs.

Document and share findings to inform BMMA’s workforce training and development initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partner Outreach

Cultivate and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, clinics, healthcare providers, and stakeholders in the Black maternal health ecosystem.

Organize convenings with clinical stakeholders to discuss challenges, share insights, and co-develop strategies to support the Black maternal health workforce.

Collaborate with external partners to integrate best practices into BMMA’s clinical programs.
Program Development and Implementation

Develop and refine competencies, standards, and practices in midwifery models of care and nursing services to support BMMA’s workforce development programs.

Evaluate existing perinatal and nursing services to identify practices that can be incorporated into BMMA’s professional development resources.

Contribute to the design and execution of clinician-focused capacity-building training and programming.
Reporting and Representation

Prepare detailed reports summarizing research, site visit findings, and partnership outcomes.

Present key insights and recommendations to the leadership team and stakeholders.

Represent BMMA at professional meetings, conferences, and other public engagements to advance BMMA’s mission.
Other Duties as Assigned

Support cross-departmental initiatives that align with BMMA’s mission and goals.

Perform other related responsibilities as required.
COMPENSATION
The BMMA Clinical Services Analyst is a full-time position with a salary of $78,000 - $93,000, commensurate with experience.
