Title: Bioinformatics Platform Administrator/Project Manager
Reports to: Director, Lupus Nexus
Location: Hybrid (NYC) or Remote
Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000
Background
The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is the largest nongovernmental, nonprofit funder of lupus research worldwide. The organization aims to transform treatment by funding the most innovative lupus research; fostering diverse scientific talent; stimulating research collaborations; and driving discovery towards better diagnostics, improved treatments, and ultimately a cure for lupus. To date, the LRA has funded over $220 million in support of lupus research and discoveries that have fundamentally improved quality of life for those suffering with this disease.
Position Summary
The LRA is looking for a Platform Administrator/Project Manager to join our team and lead the development and maintenance of a bioinformatics research platform that supports our lupus research projects. You will be responsible for collaborating with outside agencies, organizing internal bio-research initiatives, and ensuring the successful deployment, operation, monitoring and enhancement of a state-of-the-art bioinformatics platform.
Responsibilities

Manage bioinformatics platform research projects lifecycle, from planning and design to implementation and evaluation

Coordinate research projects with internal and external stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, data scientists, and vendors

Manage the platform enhancement process, including identifying user needs, prioritizing features, testing and validating new functionalities, and documenting changes

Maintain the platform performance, security, and reliability, including troubleshooting issues, resolving bugs, and applying updates

Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements

Coordinate the bioinformatics advisory board, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and facilitating discussions
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in bioinformatics, computer science, biology, or related field

At least 3 years of experience in bioinformatics, data analysis, or software development

Experience with cloud computing, web development, and database management

Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
