Position Title: Lupus Nexus Data Manager

Background

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is the world’s leading non-governmental, non-profit funder of lupus research. Over the past 20 years, the LRA has invested over $200 million in lupus research in more than 500 research and clinical studies. More recently, the LRA established an affiliate organization, Lupus Therapeutics (LT), which is responsible for the coordination, conduct, and management of a North American-based clinical trial consortium, the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN).

This is an exciting professional opportunity to support an initiative of critical importance to the lupus community from the ground up. Be part of a team of LRA/LT staff, academic and industry experts, and individuals with lupus who envision and bring to life a unique infrastructure that builds and integrates a patient registry with a linked biorepository, and a data and analytics platform. This resource, referred to as the Lupus Nexus (LNx), will expedite scientific discovery and clinical development, will accelerate precision medicine in lupus, and will ultimately transform lupus care.

Position Summary

The Lupus Nexus Data Manager will be part of the Lupus Research Alliance’s Research Department and will contribute to the build and management of the Lupus Nexus.  This role is primarily responsible for the quality, security, and maintenance of clinical and research data, maintaining data provenance throughout the lifecycle of the program. The role will ensure that sufficient data quality is maintained so that the data can be effectively utilized by the lupus patient and research communities.

Responsibilities

Develop and oversee operational processes to ensure the quality, security, and maintenance of clinical and research data, maintaining data provenance throughout the lifecycle of the program.


Contribute to the development of the Data Governance and Management Plan to ensure the quality of Lupus Nexus’ datasets, data records, and data elements.


Contribute to the selection, design, configuration, and validation of the data repository, exchange, and analytics platform (DREAM) components.  Work with external vendors in planning for the electronic capture and recording of various clinical, research, and biospecimen-related data.


Develop data flow schematics and logistics to coordinate the acquisition and distribution of clinical and research data.  Define clinical data elements and collection modules from the study protocol and supporting documents. Assist with the development and maintenance of the Lupus Nexus data dictionary, ensuring that all data objects are uniquely defined, relevant, and non-duplicative.


Work with external vendors to ensure the seamless flow of data across all platforms and the availability of highly curated data for the end users of LNx.


Oversee the resolution and documentation of data queries as per established change management practices.


Oversee the acquisition and distribution of biospecimen analyses data from multiple platforms. 


Contribute to vendor selection, contract development, and workflow operationalization for biospecimen analyses. 


Maintain close partnerships with key stakeholders and work with functional leads to troubleshoot and resolve issues within the data collection and biospecimen analysis pipeline.


Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to support the release of data to the scientific community.  Manage the review process for data requests.  Develop, maintain, and report associated KPIs.

 

        Credentials 

·                BS degree or higher in computer science, information technology, statistics, or a related field

·                8+ years of experience in a clinical trial and/or research data management with extensive                               experience in building and maintaining artifacts related to research study databases (e.g. eCRFs,                   ePROs, eClinROs, eConsent)

·                 Experience with biorepositories and multi-omic/molecular data types is preferred 

        Skills & Competencies:

     Demonstrated ability to think strategically when planning and managing responsibilities

     Hands-on, self-directed, detail-oriented, organized, and conscientious

     Must work independently and prioritize and manage multiple projects within tight timelines

     Team player who can build excellent working relationships both internally and externally
