Position Title: Project Manager

Reports to: Director of Partnerships and Consortia

Location: Remote/Hybrid office NYC             


Background

The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) is the world’s leading non-governmental, non-profit funder of lupus research. Over the past 20 years, the LRA has invested over $220 million in lupus research in more than 525 research and clinical studies. More recently, the LRA established an affiliate organization, Lupus Therapeutics (LT), which is responsible for the coordination, conduct and management of a North American-based clinical trial consortium, the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN).

 

Position Overview

The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for supporting the implementation of Lupus Accelerating Breakthroughs Consortium (Lupus ABC), a public-private partnership with the Food and Drug Administration. The project manager will coordinate the activities of Lupus ABC, playing a key role in ensuring the initiative’s success by managing deliverables, timelines, project schedules, coordination of activities, and more. The position reports to the LRA Director of Partnerships and Consortia.

 

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for a range of activities related to Lupus ABC and the LRA Lupus Industry Council (LIC), as well as ad-hoc duties related to other research department initiatives and activities, including:

·       Develop, oversee, and implement a project tracking system that covers all elements of Lupus ABC

·       Measure performance, and track milestones and accountabilities using appropriate project management tools

·       Assist in the implementation of Lupus ABC project deliverables

·       Draft Lupus ABC project updates, correspondence, and other written communications related to the project

·       Support activities related to the engagement of potential new Lupus ABC members

·       Support work on Lupus ABC Research Committee, Lupus Voices Council and working groups, as required, including:

o   Scheduling meetings

o   Assist in preparing background materials

o   Attending LVC, RC, and workgroup meetings and drafting and distributing meeting minutes,  and following up on action items

·       Partnering with the communications team, oversee Lupus ABC website and ensure it is up to date

·       Draft annual budgets

·       Solicit, retain, and manage vendors

·       Work with LRA meetings staff to support the planning and execution of in-person meetings

·       Communicate with Lupus ABC members, spanning a variety of stakeholders including industry, academia, government, lupus patients, professional societies, and non-profit organizations.

·       Provide project support for the Lupus Industry Council (LIC), including:

o   Maintain an up-to-date list of LIC members

o   Prepare meeting materials and follow up on post-meeting action items

o   Communicate with LIC members and potential new members

o   Track progress of projects

o   Develop a semiannual LIC newsletter

·       Perform other duties, including project support for other research department activities, as needed

·       Ability to travel to Lupus ABC, LIC, and LRA meetings.

 

Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s degree

·       Minimum 5 years of related experience

·       Excellent writing and communications skills

·       Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with numerous internal and external stakeholders

·       Previous experience with administration of scientific research projects a plus
