About iMentor

iMentor empowers first-generation college students to succeed in college and achieve their ambitions. iMentor partners with public high schools and matches every student in the school with a mentor. This model reimagines the counseling function in a school by providing 1:1 support for every student and focusing these relationships on college access, persistence, and success. Mentors commit a minimum of three years to a single student before having the option to extend their relationship through college completion. iMentor provides the structure and support mentor-mentee pairs need to be consistently effective, including a research-based curriculum to guide mentor-mentee interaction and a full-time case manager (trained as a college counselor) who is responsible for the success of the relationship. Since its inception, iMentor has supported 29,000 mentoring relationships in 17 communities across the country.

Over the last five years, iMentor served 17,500 students, expanded national partnerships ten-fold, grew annual revenue by $6M, built out its executive and senior leadership teams, and opened regional offices in Chicago and the Bay Area. Entering this next five-year strategic plan, iMentor is focusing on growth and improvement, launching widespread impact strategies, financial sustainability, and deepening its diversity & equity work. Building on its track record of success supporting first-generation college students, iMentor is committed to leveraging its resources and stature to not only deepen impact programmatically, but to challenge the structures that fuel inequity and make this work necessary.
