Position Overview

iMentor is seeking a Temporary Communications Coordinator to provide critical support iMentor’s communications function to amplify and enhance iMentor’s brand awareness. 

Reporting to the Managing Director of Communications, the coordinator will support the internal and external production of branded content for the Communications Team. They will work to maintain production schedules and organizational systems to enhance the delivery of collateral, create graphics as needed for email, web, social media, and other digital products; and support in project planning, editing, and research. 

The coordinator will be responsible for supporting the creation of internal written and visual content, including blog posts, newsletters, presentation decks, social graphics, and reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in graphic design and project management within the communications, advertising, and/or marketing sector. They will work to manage the collection of mentee-mentor pair stories and photos to help the DMC identify storytelling opportunities across the national organization. By leveraging their organization skills, design thinking, and passion for customer service, they will enhance cross-team collaboration and ensure the delivery of high-quality projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production of digital and print marketing collateral by collaborating and communicating across various teams
  • Maintain team production calendar, track project milestones, and manage touchpoints with collaborators
  • Serve as the internal brand steward, maintaining and informing staff, consultants, and volunteers about templates, style guides, preferred language, and organizational best practices.
  • Maintain the organization’s communications calendar for all constituents.
  • Create branded content using Photoshop and InDesign to support the design process.
  • Produce e-newsletters, presentation decks, and compile reports for internal teams.
  • Implement and maintain a storytelling database.
  • Contribute written and visual content for iMentor’s social hub and blog by collecting programmatic stories
  • Support iMentor organization-wide initiatives, requiring occasional evening and/or weekend events

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience working in communications or graphic design; experience working in the non-profit sector a plus
  • Experience editing photos, creating graphics and using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
  • Track record of successfully managing multiple streams of work through short-term and long-term projects
  • Superb project management and organization skills; ability to adhere to deadlines and rapidly problem-solve
  • Approaches the communication and design process from a customer-service lens
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Exceptional writer and verbal communicator with the ability to translate iMentor’s work into compelling stories
  • Thinks proactively about the needs of others and can anticipate needs across diverse stakeholders
  • Displays a high level of professional judgment and empathy
  • Understanding of and passion for issues around access and equity in education
  • Demonstrated alignment with iMentor's mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Views differences between individuals (race, gender, age, cultural heritage, physical ability, education, beliefs, and lifestyle) as an asset and demonstrates an appreciation of the diversity across the iMentor community
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Our organization works in partnership with district public schools across the country. In doing so we must meet all compliance requirements of those districts.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Up to 100% employer funded comprehensive medical and dental coverage
  • 18 days paid annual vacation and 13 paid holidays, and most iMentor functions closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day
  • 401K match up to 4%
