iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Students work with their mentors one-on-one, in-person and online, to develop strong personal relationships, nurture a college aspiration, navigate the college application process, and build critical skills that lead to college success. Position Overview 

iMentor is seeking a Revenue and Grants Manager to lead all grants management, including creating and implementing systems for proactive monthly monitoring of the different revenue streams and grants, and supporting the monthly close and year-end audit preparation. This role will report to the Managing Director of Finance, but they will be the primary liaison to the National and Regional Development and Program teams in the creation of grant proposals, grant reporting and in identifying programmatic elements that could be leveraged for new fundraising. They also will work directly with Program leadership on the billing of earned income for each region which currently includes: New York City, Chicago, Bay Area, Partner Programs, and our future sites and partners.  

The ideal candidate will have at least four years’ experience in grants management, managing revenue systems and processes between a nonprofit organization and government entities, financial accounting and reporting, an understanding of GAAP, and nonprofit accounting practices and standards. Responsibilities  

Grants management  
  • Create and manage all financial information, including support documentation, for grant reports and proposals  
  • Design, oversee and maintain financial system for proactive monthly monitoring of all grant spending and manage all financial elements of the grant reporting process including the tracking of expenses 
  • Work closely with the National Development team and Regional leadership to identify underfunded programmatic elements, ensure proper grant revenue recognition and reconciliation in our fundraising database, Salesforce® 
  • Maintain copies of all grants, tracking receivables and reviewing all grant award letters to ensure that financial reporting requirements of funders are met
  • Ensure that all activities and recordkeeping is compliant with GAAP 
 
Financial operations  
  • Lead and support operational excellence across iMentor, by ensuring error free implementation and usage of iMentor’s financial tools and software and insure internal systems and processes are high-capacity, efficient and effective and meet the needs of a diverse set of users and stakeholders 
  • Support iMentor organization-wide initiatives, requiring occasional evening and/or weekend events 
  • Based on experience, will oversee the day-to-day function of the Accounts Payable OR Accounts Receivable business process (see below for each)

Accounts Receivable 
  • Create and manage all financial information, including support documentation, for earned income and philanthropic revenue streams
  • Design, oversee and maintain a system for proactively monitoring the earned income business process for each region to ensure that all revenue has been recorded and received  
  • Work directly with the team on monthly close-outs on revenue and provide any assistance where needed in the overall finance function of iMentor 

Accounts Payable 
  • Review and post all disbursements processed via iMentor’s expense management tool, Concur Solutions
  • Design, oversee and maintain a system of onboarding new users to the expense management system.

Qualifications 
  • At least four years of relevant experience in roles with increasing responsibility; preferably in grants management and/or financial accounting and reporting, non-profit experience a plus 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices and standards
  • Demonstrate experience and active willingness to adapt to changing organizational needs and priorities
  • Able to manage multiple complex projects at once while meeting mission critical deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; a good listener who can motivate others through influence, manage expectations, be willing to engage in difficult conversations in order to advance the work 
  • Patient and able to successfully convey financial concepts to iMentor’s diverse team that includes non-finance professionals 
  • Superior professional judgement and ability to handle confidential information appropriately 
  • Experience working with automated financial software systems, cloud-based technology and office software. Knowledge of Sage Intacct and Concur strongly preferred, familiarity with Salesforce a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with pivot tables, v-lookup equations and large data sets highly desirable
