Our ultracapacitors are manufactured in Western Massachusetts from abundant and regenerative hemp biomass, grown domestically in the US by Black and Indigenous farmers.

Responsibilities

florrent is looking for an electrical engineer with expertise in designing and building ancillary controls and integration systems for energy storage technologies, to help us build and optimise the electronics for our next-generation of ultracapacitors. In this role, you will

  • Work in a small, interdisciplinary R&D team to design-build, and test hardware systems that will help florrent quickly iterate towards commercialisation of our first product.

  • Understand and synthesise system-level functionality requirements and definitions into hardware designs

  • Gather, analyse, and visualise data to enable rapid convergence on commercialisable innovation

  • Manage component sourcing and initial contract manufacturer relations

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields

  • Experience with SPICE, PCB CAD, and Mechanical CAD software

  • Experience designing and testing high-voltage AC and DC systems

  • Experience building and attaining regulatory compliance for power electronics systems

  • Experience with schematic design and strong knowledge of electronic components

  • Experience with PCB layout design, electronics simulation, prototyping and testing skills

  • Experience with DFM (design for manufacturability) and DFT (design for testing) with electronics manufacturers, creating scale production documentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using Altium, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.

  • Experience modelling power systems in Matlab Simulink

  • Experience developing and implementing controls algorithms for battery management systems

  • Good knowledge of EMC/EMI design practices and the relevant validation testing

  • Experience with project and/or product management to take products from design to market

  • Experience bringing prototypes and products through CE, FCC, UL, IC, etc. testing and certification with NRTLs
