Qualifications & Skills

  1. Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in landscaping, groundskeeping, and general maintenance.
  2. Experience:
    • Previous maintenance work and problem-solving skills, preferred.
  3. Soft Skills:
    • Effective communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and adaptability.
  4. Certifications and Training (preferred):
    • Relevant trade certifications, safety training, and physical fitness.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Training:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Valid Driver's License is required.
    • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or certification in maintenance-related fields such as plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, or general maintenance is beneficial.
  2. Experience:
    • Previous experience in maintenance roles, especially in a camp or similar environment, is preferred.
  3. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in landscaping and groundskeeping tasks such as lawn mowing and weed eating.
    • Proficiency in performing various maintenance tasks, as needed.
  4. Communication and Teamwork:
    • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with camp staff, contractors, and vendors regarding maintenance needs and updates.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to overall camp operations as needed.
  5. Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
    • Critical thinking skills to identify maintenance issues, develop solutions, and prioritize tasks based on camp needs.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to handle diverse maintenance tasks and respond to emergencies as they arise.
  6. Background Check:
    • Candidates must be able to pass a background check, mainly due to the population with which the position works.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities 

 

Specific Area – Groundskeeping and Landscaping (Primary Focus)

 

  • Maintain outdoor areas, including landscaping features, by mowing, trimming, weeding, and watering as needed.
  • Clear debris, fallen branches, and hazardous materials from pathways and recreational areas to ensure the safety of campers and staff.

 

Specific Area – Facilities Maintenance

 

  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, cabins, restrooms, and other structures to identify maintenance needs.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure facilities are safe and functional.
  • Maintain and repair camp infrastructure, including roofs, walls, windows, doors, and flooring, as needed.

 

 

Specific Area – Safety and Compliance

 

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including properly handling chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in emergency response procedures and evacuation drills as part of the camp’s safety protocols.
