We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Access Database Specialist with relevant experience to oversee, maintain, and improve the organization’s legacy Access database system. The selected candidate will act as the primary vendor key staff person, managing all aspects of the database to ensure its reliability, performance, and security. Additionally, the candidate must possess familiarity and experience with the Washington State Financial System (AFRS) to assist in coding, payments, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, update, and troubleshoot Microsoft Access databases, ensuring optimal performance and data security.
- Maintain the integrity and reliability of the Access database, including sensitive financial data.
- Develop and implement processes for regular database backups, recovery, and updates.
- Identify opportunities to streamline database workflows and improve overall system efficiency.
- Execute special Access database projects to enhance SCC functions and financial processes.
- Upgrade database architecture where necessary to meet current organizational needs.
- Work with the Washington State Financial System (AFRS) to manage uploads, process vendor payments, and implement coding changes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AFRS integration and organization-specific financial processes.
- Prepare and maintain thorough documentation of database designs, updates, and changes.
- Generate reports and provide data analytics support to assist with operational and financial decision-making processes.
Basic Qualification:
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience with Microsoft Access, including database design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience working with sensitive and financial data in a secure environment.
- At least 5 years of experience working with AFRS, including processes for vendor payments, coding, and issue resolution
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues efficiently.
- Proficient in generating detailed documentation of database operations and configurations.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
