As a Financial Service Representative, you will be a personal banker to the credit union’s membership, educating members on credit union products and services, and building trusted, long-term relationships. You will assist members in opening new accounts and offer them solutions that best meet their financial needs. You will also be a consumer loan officer for the credit union, processing loan applications from beginning to end and ensuring a consistent and seamless member experience.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing prompt, consistent, courteous, and personal service to members and teammates
  • Identifying the financial needs of new and existing members through consultative, open-ended questions and job-related tools, recommending products and services to members to help them achieve financial success and build member loyalty
  • Advising members through credit counseling and budgeting, assisting them with improving their credit scores and/or helping them plan for future goals
  • Reviewing credit reports, income, and debt-to-income ratios to make responsible lending decisions
  • Underwriting, approving, closing, and servicing consumer loans from start to finish
  • Educating members on the use of automated services and tools such as online banking, eStatements, and bill pay
  • Opening and servicing specialty accounts including but not limited to IRAs, trust accounts, estate accounts, and conservator accounts
  • Building credit union culture by mentoring and coaching other branch employees, and achieving individual consultative sales/service performance goals
  • Representing the credit union at community events and promoting the benefits of credit union membership

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Education: 2+ years of experience in consumer lending and underwriting, mortgage lending knowledge is a plus, high school diploma or equivalent

Skills/Abilities: Consultative relationship-building and sales skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, active listening skills, strong organization skills and exceptional accuracy

This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration and a Notary Public commission.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular duties are performed in a general office work environment and regularly require sitting at a workstation/desk while speaking with members, completing paperwork or using computers, calculators, copiers, telephone, fax machines and other business office machines and equipment.  Essential duties may also involve occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, walking, crouching, stooping and lifting up to 30 pounds.

COMPENSATION

This is a non-exempt hourly position with a hiring range of $20.75 to $27.50, plus a commission program based on performance results. The base salary offered will be based on experience and qualifications, and an offer of employment from Horizons North Credit Union will be contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background check.
