We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Clinical Operations to add to our team. As the Associate Director, Clinical Operations, you will provide strategic oversight and leadership within the Clinical Operations team, ensuring that key projects and initiatives progress efficiently and effectively – while also driving a collaborative culture and striving to achieve strong cross-functional relationships and alignment with senior level stakeholders, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence in delivery. This role is designed for an insightful leader with extensive experience in clinical operations and healthcare, focused on enhancing patient care and outcomes. The ideal candidate must have extensive wound care experience, be a licensed RN, and possess skills in clinical research, health care informatics and project management.

Job Type: Full-time, Remote setting with field-based work across the U.S.

Reports to: The Associate Director will be an integral part of the Reimbursement and Market Access Team and will report to the Director of Market Access, Value and Real-World Evidence.

Compensation: $180,000 – 200,000

Key Responsibilities

As the Associate Director of Clinical Operations at AOTI, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful onboarding of new customers and leading efforts to optimize clinical workflows, patient engagement and implementation support. A key component of this role is to work collaboratively with Operations, Sales, and Market Access colleagues to support patient access, therapy adherence and data collection. Additional responsibilities will include, but not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Serve as mentor and advisor for the Clinical Operations Manager and clinical staff, driving initiatives to optimize the Eyes on the Wound program and other patient adherence initiatives.
  • Maintain positive relationships with referral sources, field teams, and the prior authorization and billing teams.
  • Develop strategies to improve clinical documentation collection processes, ensuring payer requirements for medical necessity, prior authorization, and reauthorizations are met.
  • Proactively identify and address trends in documentation quality and clinical outcomes, providing feedback to improve processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including prescribers, to streamline documentation workflows and optimize patient therapy setup timelines.
  • Develop and refine internal training materials to ensure all staff are well-versed in payer coverage criteria and wound care best practices.
  • Drive initiatives to increase the utilization of electronic ordering systems and technology integration within clinical workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and industry standards, including HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality, across all platforms and communications.
  • Assist in writing and managing clinical research protocols and fostering collaboration with cross-departmental teams to advance clinical operations.
  • Lead the EOTW Remote Therapy Monitoring program, ensuring successful patient onboarding and engagement.
  • Manage the operational aspects of app-based wound measurement technology, ensuring that wound reports are efficiently shared with prescribers.
  • Oversee the quality control of wound imaging platform, including photo and measurement quality control checks.
  • Lead the development and rollout of customer-facing materials, documentation, and implementation assets to optimize AOTI's EOTW onboarding process and patient engagement.
  • Lead and execute cross-functional projects that align with the company’s clinical goals and objectives.

Job Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • 10+ years of healthcare experience, with at least 5 years in wound care or a related field.
  • Superior communication and relationship-building skills, ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in project management and leading complex, multi-departmental initiatives. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clinical research experience, including understanding of clinical trial processes, protocol development and implementation, site management, and electronic data capture platforms.
  • Skilled in evidence generation and manuscript preparation and publication.
  • Strong understanding and experience with hospital information systems, health technology, interoperability, and data analytics.

 

  • Deep wound care industry experience. Clinical wound care expertise. Understanding of regulatory, reimbursement, and competitive landscape.
  • In-depth understanding of payer requirements for medical necessity documentation, prior authorizations, and appeals.
  • Experience with insurance reimbursement processes, both commercial and government.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel up to ~ 30% of the time.

  • This is a remote position, with up to 30% travel required. The Associate Director will be responsible for co-traveling with the PACs and Wound Care Consultants (WCCs) and working within hospitals, clinics, and medical offices as needed.
