Jord is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist, Agronomic Insights who will be responsible for supporting crop testing activities across our product development portfolio, to join our team. The Senior Scientist will work under the supervision of the Chief Product Development Officer, with technical guidance from the Chief Science Officer. The ideal candidate will have expertise in plant science, including plant physiology and crop testing. The candidate will provide clear technical guidance in the design of experiments for controlled environment and field testing of microbial product candidates and their interactions with plants. Additionally, candidates should have deep experience with data analysis, visualization, and interpretation. Jord’s teams are highly cooperative, and this role will require cross-team collaboration, including with the lab operations, data science, crop testing, and commercial teams.
Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership to guide Jord’s Crop Testing function to enable execution of high-quality controlled environment and field testing, and deliver on Jord’s commercial goals by developing research protocols, experimental designs, and data analysis plans.

Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for controlled environment and field trial operations, and participate in the execution of experiments as needed.

Lead the analysis and interpretation of data from crop testing trials, using plant science expertise to drive product understanding.

Collaborate with other team members and external partners to prepare for product launches, improve product placement and performance, and share findings, knowledge, and best practices in a commercial context.

Maintain a high level of knowledge of the latest trends, techniques, and technologies in crop testing, and crop inputs in agriculture.

Write scientific reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Maintain accurate records and adhere to all safety protocols.

Continuously learn and expand skills concomitant with Jord’s growth

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Crop Nutrition, Horticulture, Crop or Plant Science, Plant Pathology or a related field.

At least 3- 5 years of agriculture industry experience conducting research related to field trials, controlled environment/greenhouse operations, or other crop testing in a commercial setting.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage and train junior research staff, as needed.

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in field trials, greenhouse operations and/or plant nutrition.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Experience with statistical analysis software is preferred
