Position Summary
The Director of Engineering is a key role responsible for managing construction project budget and timeline. This position plans, coordinates, and oversees construction initiatives from start to finish. Responsible for guiding technical strategy and ensuring the successful execution of projects from conception to completion. They ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. They act as the primary liaison between cross-functional teams, and clients to align project objectives and resolve roadblocks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans outlining tasks, milestones, timelines, and deliverables.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and adherence to budgets.
- Implement new technologies, optimize engineering processes, and provide technical guidance to solve complex challenges.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and allocate internal and external resources efficiently.
- Identify potential bottlenecks (e.g., budget constraints, delays) and implement proactive solutions to mitigate them.
- Lead progress meetings and provide regular status updates to executives, clients, and team members.
- Support and anticipate business needs through communication and team engagement.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Support cross-functional due diligence, documentation, and reporting across multiple business functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related scientific degree with 5-10+ years of direct project engineering/management experience.
- Ability to motivate cross-functional teams and delegate tasks effectively.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to interact with departmental leaders and vendors.
- Strong background in relevant engineering, with hands-on experience in systems design and infrastructure management.
- Proficiency in planning, organizing, and supervising complex projects, including risk management and resource allocation
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulatory compliance (GxP, GMP, FDA, EMA).
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and third-party partners in complex operational environments.
