Role

The position of the Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing the efficient unloading and loading of trucks, as well as the accurate breakdown of pallets to facilitate the FBA creation team’s order-building process. This role requires strong leadership, attention to quality, and the ability to drive process improvements. The ideal candidate will possess excellent general warehouse skills and be proficient in reporting and analysis to ensure smooth and effective operations. Additionally, this role includes managing cycle audits and inventory management processes to maintain accurate stock levels and improve inventory accuracy. 

Responsibilities

Receiving Operations

  • Oversee the unloading of trucks, ensuring all incoming products are handled safely and efficiently.  

  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists to ensure accuracy. 

  • Manage the accurate and timely entry of received goods into inventory systems. 

  • Oversee the breakdown of pallets, ensuring products are sorted and staged correctly for the FBA Creation team.

  • Implement best practices for pallet breakdown to optimize efficiency and accuracy. 

  • Coordinate with the FBA Creation team to ensure a seamless transition of products for order building. 

 

Returns Processing

 

  • Supervise the returns process, ensuring returned products are inspected, categorized, and processed correctly. 

  • Coordinate with customer service and other departments to resolve any issues related to returns. 

  • Ensure returned items are restocked or disposed of according to company policies. 

 

Reporting and Analysis

 

  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports on receiving, returns, pallet breakdown activities, cycle audits, and inventory management. 

  • Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. 

  • Provide regular updates to management on operational performance and key metrics. 

 

Leadership

 

  • Lead and supervise the Returns & Receiving team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. 

  • Provide training and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. 

  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage professional growth. 

  • Commitment to continuous learning by reading and applying insights from professional and personal development books to enhance leadership and team performance. 

 

Inventory Management

 

  • Conduct regular cycle audits to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies. 

  • Implement and manage inventory management processes to maintain accurate stock levels. 

  • Work with the inventory team to reconcile discrepancies and ensure data integrity. 

  • Develop and maintain inventory tracking systems to optimize stock management. 

 

Other Responsibilities

 

  • Learn and support the execution and building of FBA orders, ensuring accuracy in SKU and quantity verification.

  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently. 

  • Ensure the warehouse is organized, clean, and free of hazards. 

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 

  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and improve overall warehouse operations. 

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and integrate them into daily operations. 

  • Maintain current forklift certification to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall operational effectiveness of the team. 

Job Qualifications

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a warehouse environment, preferably in a leadership role.

  • Minimum 1 year experience operating a forklift. 
  • Strong understanding of receiving, returns processing, pallet breakdown operations, cycle audits, and inventory management. 

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills. 

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality. 

  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and other relevant software. 

  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently, especially forklifts.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with FBA operations.

  • Experience with WFS operations.

  • Prior experience in reporting and data analysis.
