UNIT Solutions, a fast-growing designer and manufacturer of proprietary, non-lethal training systems for military and law enforcement personnel, is seeking an Operations & Inventory Coordinator to support purchasing, inventory management, ERP transactions, and shop floor fulfillment at our Twinsburg, Ohio facility.
Job Description
The Operations & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for preparing purchase orders, managing inventory, coordinating shop floor fulfillment, and optimizing ERP business system transactions. The position works cross-functionally to ensure order accuracy, timely shipping, and operational efficiency for customer, T&E Program, and marketing needs.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing
- Generate and process timely purchase orders to support daily business needs.
- Liaison with suppliers to monitor the status of purchase orders and assure on-time delivery of parts and supplies.
- Prepare purchasing status and planned receipts reports to support the Production and Warehouse teams.
Inventory Management & Control
- Manage all aspects of inventory coordination, control, and movement through the ERP and warehouse management systems.
- Analyze and evaluate inventory levels to enable effective purchase order execution.
- Partner with the Warehouse team to prepare inventory and to enable on time sales order fulfillments and shipments that comply with company standards for accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor inventory flow using ERP systems and physical warehouse checks to ensure order accuracy and proper inventory levels.
- Plan, prepare, and issue the weekly inventory cycle counting requirements for the Warehouse team.
- Audit cycle counting activities and reports to assure inventory accuracy requirements.
Sales & Operations Planning Coordination
- Coordinate sales orders and shop floor fulfillment for customers, the T&E Program, and sales/marketing special requests.
- Manage and update the daily sales order fulfillment report to assure alignment between the Sales function and Production team.
ERP System Transactions & Administration
- Prepare and process work orders.
- Prepare and process purchase orders.
- Partner with the Operations Specialist to generate a suite of reports/KPI’s to support inventory management, purchasing and production productivity.
- Partner with the Operations Specialist to assure data integrity in the ERP system.
Production Operations
- Liaise between the Production Manager and the Operations Specialist to process daily build requirements and fulfillment orders.
- Participate in shop floor planning and transaction processing, flagging potential delays or issues promptly.
- Support receiving, quality control, MRB, storage, order fulfillment, shipping, and RMA processes.
- Maintain and report on key inventory and fulfillment KPIs to management.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in warehouse, fulfillment, light manufacturing, or product service environments with hands-on practice in production planning, inventory management, and lean manufacturing.
Skills and Approach to Work:
- Proficient with barcode inventory systems, ERP, and warehouse management software.
- Strong knowledge of inventory processing, including receiving, quality control, MRB, fulfillment, shipping, and RMA.
- Skilled user of Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel capabilities.
- Ability to work in a productive, cooperative manner with other company employees.
- Strong attention to detail to produce high quality, timely work content.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies or processes.
- Positive, hands-on team player attitude willing to tackle a variety of tasks.
- Ability to multitask in a moderate paced environment.
- Must have a “Can-Do” attitude of no job too big, no job too small that includes a small team willingness to do the work yourself as required.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms to perform assembly and fulfillment tasks. The role occasionally requires lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds (e.g., moving parts from storage and transporting materials into the work area).
