Our experienced Mortgage Underwriter will have recently demonstrated FHA, VA and/or USDA underwriting expertise; believe in superior customer service and enjoy working in a high production team environment where integrity and honesty are paramount!
What You Will Be Doing:
- Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documentation to determine if borrower and/or property meet loan standards
- Complete a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and government guidelines and standards
- Evaluate the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans and ultimately ensure an "investor" quality loan product
- Meet or exceed established production goals
- Meet or exceed established quality standards
- Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers
- Communicate decision (approval, suspense, denial) on loans to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing
- Be available to processors and loan officers for general guideline interpretations and questions on specific loan files
- Continually exhibit an understanding of automated underwriting and guidelines
- Check accuracy of all calculations
- Understand how FHA and/or VA guidelines relate to internal and investor guidelines required
Skills and qualifications:
- 3-5 years current, demonstrated experience as a FHA and/or VA mortgage underwriter required
- DE/SAR certification required
- Wholesale experience ideal
- Ability to research, read and correctly apply agency and company guidelines
- Recent experience working in a paperless production environment
- Superior customer services skills and attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail required
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- A team player and have the ability to work independently
- Thrive in a fast paced, high production environment
- Previous success working virtually (home based)
- Readily embraces change
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Solid computer skills; including Microsoft Office products, DataTrac experience idea
