POSITION SUMMARY

 

At Modo Modo Agency, our Strategists are pivotal roles – as we position and differentiate ourselves on our business-centricity and strategic focus. As a Strategist, you are accountable for drawing out of clients their unique business value, uncovering market insights, researching buyer/audience behaviors, needs, & desires, and with that knowledge authoring actionable strategies and tactical program recommendations.

 

You succeed by applying curiosity and an analytical mind to marketing challenges and research. You clearly communicate and present compelling strategies and journeys/stories to deliver results that drive desired audience behavior. You adapt your approach, processes, and deliverables to meet our clients where they are, applying your ever-growing knowledge of sales, B2B marketing, and business concepts—while also staying rooted in the buyer perspective. 


COMPETENCIES / WHAT IT TAKES 


Be Curious, Think Critically, and Connect Dots: 

Demonstrate understanding of business challenges and sales & marketing realities. Be proactive (and flexible) in helping to create structure amid ambiguity, by absorbing and synthesizing seemingly disparate information on a Client’s business or market dynamic. 

Strong Communication & Facilitation Skills: 

Deliver written and verbal communications that are relevant and resonate with audiences. Tailor and present ideas to be actionable across functional roles from C-level to the tactical practitioner.

People & Relationship Skills:

Demonstrate experience listening for and understanding of personal and group drivers, motivators, and interpersonal dynamics. Be able to sell in new—sometimes risky—ideas and help clients champion our work internally.

Apply Strategic & Full-Service B2B Marketing Expertise:

Connect strategy discipline to action through awareness of the full mix of marketing channels to inform strategy deliverables.

Research & Represent POVs:

Quickly synthesize client markets customer segments, and/or analyze and articulate customer challenges/pain points and motivators.

Presence & “It Factor”:

Engage with senior executives, earning trust and credibility. Be comfortable expressing a point of view and backing it up – both internally and externally.

 


RESPONSIBILITIES / WHAT YOU’LL DO 


Drive & Collaborate on Strategy for Agency Accounts and/or Engagements: The Strategist interfaces with various agency departments, including media, creative, digital, and account service (AS), to inform and craft compelling strategies/plans that help solve Client business problems.


Author & Deliver Client Strategy Documents: Produce and collaborate on strategic work that is on brief, on time, and on budget. Input activities include discovery, primary and secondary research such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, assessments, and interpretation of research/data. Outputs include plans and frameworks for positioning, messaging, marketing, communications, training, etc. and are executed in Keynote, PowerPoint, Excel, or longer format documents.

  • Ex Brand Strategy Deliverables: Brand Positioning, Messaging & Architecture; Naming; Personas; Marketing Strategies & Frameworks; Workshop Facilitation; Sales Enablement;


Develop Industry/Market/Channel Expertise & Deliver Ongoing Client insights: Produce Client and/or internal briefings and serve as an SME resource to others working on these accounts. These may be monthly, quarterly, or in an annual review capacity, depending on the nature of the Client and engagement.

Contribute to Creative Briefs and/or Proposals for Strategic Engagements: On a case-by-case basis, contribute to developing audience-centric creative briefs and participate in internal kick-off sessions to ensure insights or strategies are effectively understood in relation to the initiative. 

Support Performance Assessment: In partnership with the Directory of Strategy and other agency resources, define goals and KPIs, track outcomes against goals, and provide Client campaign or program reporting as relevant. 

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS 

  • Agency or consultancy experience 
  • Research experience (qualitative and/or quantitative) 
  • Knowledge of ABM and/or B2B influencer marketing is a plus 
  • College degree NOT required
