ALX Oncology is a publicly traded, clinical-stage immuno-oncology company focused on helping patients fight cancer by developing therapies that block the CD47 checkpoint pathway. The individual will provide accounting and finance expertise to support the business strategy for the company’s growing oncology portfolio. This position will report to the Accounting Manager and will be located in South San Francisco, CA.

 

Responsibilities

These may include but are not limited to:

· Ensures accuracy of financial transactions and ensures processes align with company accounting policies/procedures

· Ensures timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing in accordance with GAAP

· Ability to maintain the general ledger of the parent company and foreign subsidiaries

· Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for areas such as cash and investments, fixed assets, prepaids, payroll, and various accruals.

· Assist during the monthly close process on other areas such as clinical and CMC accruals

· Assist with SOX 404(b) testing and SEC reporting, as needed

· Responsible for the preparation of schedules for the external audit related to their areas of responsibility and working directly with the audit team to resolve any questions they may have on these areas

· Responsible for the preparation of the annual 1099 forms for our vendors as well as other areas of tax compliance such as property and use taxes

· Responsible for processing payroll twice monthly and resolving any payroll related issues that may arise

· Assist reviewing AP invoices for proper coding, signing authority, and accuracy

· Assist reviewing new vendors and purchase orders

 · Perform other duties as assigned or required

· Support the organization in maintaining a work environment focused on quality and that fosters learning, open communication, collaboration, integration, and teamwork

 

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related study

 · 2+ years of public accounting experience or 5+ years of related work experience

· CPA preferred, but not required

· Big 4 experience required

· Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls

· Experience with SEC Regulations and SOX compliance

· Experience in the life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry highly desired

· Must possess the ability to multi-task and work in time sensitive situations to meet deadlines despite distractions and changing priorities

· High level of attention to detail, aptitude for planning/managing deadlines

· Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), organizational, and project planning skills

· Must have ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels of employees throughout the company. Should be customer service driven and have positive outlook.

· Previous experience with mid-sized ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, and other accounting software

 · Computer literacy required, with the ability to navigate computer systems with little or no assistance. Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook software specifically experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Ability to self-motivate and function independently, driven towards superior effort and performance, and the desire to work in a very dynamic environment

 

This position will be located in South San Francisco, CA; hybrid work model is acceptable.

 

Salary: $110,000-$140,000 DOE
