ALX Oncology is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and detail-oriented in vivo technician to join our team to support our preclinical programs. The individual will work closely with our biology team to perform in vivo studies and serve a critical role in advancing our novel drug discovery pipeline.


Key Responsibilities

      Responsible for all facility husbandry duties encompassing daily technical operations and animal care (mice), including cage changing, receiving and transferring animals, ear tagging and shaving, health evaluation two times per day, blood collection, dosing and tissue collection.

      Manages overall facility inventory. Tracks, orders, and re-stocks consumable and/or disposable supplies as needed.

      Monitors and maintains daily facility environment and equipment, i.e., room temperature and air pressure, light timer, refrigerator and freezer temperature, security cameras, cleaning.

      Supports the design, planning and execution of in vivo studies involving tumor mouse models in collaboration with other scientists.

      Assists in analyzing and interpreting data.

      Contributes to writing and reviewing operating procedures and study protocols.


Requirements

      Minimum high school diploma or GED credential or equivalent combination of education/experience in science or health-related field required.

      Minimum 10+ years experience in animal research and/or husbandry in the biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent. Knowledge of preclinical drug development, especially biological drugs, is highly desirable.

      Proficient in handling mice and performing dosing (IP, IV, PO), and blood and tissue collections; familiarity with conducting PK/PD studies is a plus.

      Experienced with the administration of therapeutics and reagents to mice, and isolating and processing tissues.

      Capable of managing and performing large scale experiments.

      Effective time management and planning skills to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.

      Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

      Ability to walk, bend, and stand for 4-6 hours per day and lift up to 40 lbs.

      Excited and willing to learn new procedures.

      Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and to shift effectively as project priorities change.

      Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to work onsite.


 Salary:  $64,000-$91,000 DOE
