Job Title: Development Business & Process Specialist

 

Position Summary:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) is seeking top talent for its Development Business & Process Specialist position.  The Project Management team is newly initiated under the new Development Business Management Department (DBM) to support leaders across Development’s fundraising departments. 

 

This position will promote cross-executive communication, planning, budgeting, timelining, and leading process management for special projects in partnership with Development leadership including the Chief Development Officer and Department Heads. 

 

Working with the Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Individual Giving, this position will serve as a key process manager for the Foundation’s multi-year, multi-billion “capital campaign”. They will work to ensure all road mapping of the capital campaign moves forward, deliverables are met on time, information is captured, and updates are shared with leadership. Partnering with the Vice President of Philanthropy, this role will oversee the growth, coordination, and content organization of the team’s “Develop Your Message” training program. The Development Business & Process Specialist will serve as the centralized support in annual planning with an eye on Development leadership needs. This person will also act as process lead for special projects or working groups that lead to continual improvement of cross-collaboration and information sharing within Development leadership and across the business unit. While logistics and execution of Development team quarterly onsites will sit within the events team, planning of these onsites will be within this individual’s oversight.

 

The Development Business & Process Specialist is a highly motivated, organized, and thorough planner that can operationalize projects and processes, put timelines into motion, and deliver a collaborative process across internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Annual Planning, Capital Campaign and Special Projects 

  • Represent the Development leadership team as needed through the Foundation's annual planning process with the larger Growth and Innovation team. This may include procuring approvals for large-scale budget, providing updates to key stakeholders on the status of annual plans, and communicating key needs to senior leaders across business units
  • Support Development leadership in tri-annual business reviews as needed
  • Serve as key process support for the foundation’s multi-year capital campaign ensuring deliverables are met on time, information is captured, and updates and relevant information are shared with leadership. Additional responsibilities include scheduling and supporting capital campaign meetings and logistics and preparation of materials. Identifying outcomes of capital campaign meetings, tracking progress of workflows, ensuring deliverables are met on time, information is captured, and updates and relevant information are shared with leadership. 
  • Lead process management of Development leadership-led special projects and activation of focused working groups as needed. Ensure appropriate development departments’ goals and objectives are represented in scope, and projects are completed on time and meet the organization’s strategic objectives. 
  • Build key relationships with stakeholders across the Development Business Unit leaders, with other Business Units and project teams in the organization and with third-party partners to move key needs forward  
  • Work closely with project teams to develop comprehensive workflows and timelines to account for all points of connection 
  • Continuously improve process management and practices

 

Team Onsites, Meetings and Trainings 

  • Partner with VP of Philanthropy to strategically expand the team’s “Develop Your Message” training program. Plan curriculum and schedule, secure speakers, collect, organize, and archive training presentations and resources 
  • Support planning of Development-wide quarterly onsites and monthly meetings, partner with Development leadership on creation of content and message to events team as they lead coordination and logistics related to these large team connects  
  • Exhibit a team dynamic that reflects the foundation's values 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Highly organized and ability to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions
  • Thorough understanding of process management and process design with demonstrated skills managing complex projects and processes resulting in measurable success
  • Able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines, and to build effective partnerships with individuals and teams
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience having worked with high-performance, collaborative, constructive colleagues

 

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
