Job Title: Prospecting Officer

 

Position Summary:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) is seeking top talent for its Prospecting Officer position on the Enablement team.  The Enablement team is integral in helping the MJFF Development department scale as they drive revenue growth by reducing the time relationship managers spend on various administrative tasks, speeding up the stewardship process, and improving the experience for the donor. This position focuses on supporting development team prospecting initiatives, driving new strategic program implementation, and applying process improvements.

 

It is expected that the Officer’s learning curve and responsibilities will develop and deepen in a relatively short timeframe. The position will report to the Associate Director, Enablement and is perfect for someone who has experience in prospect research, database analysis & development.



Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of strategic direction for the Prospecting program, including implementation of tools and best practices.
  • Manage development prospecting research process. Activities include fulfilling research requests as needed; composing and/or updating prospect profiles on qualified constituents; managing event attendee research; conducting weekly identification of potential prospects; implementing and disseminating alerts on donors, prospects, companies.
  • Develop proficiency in our donor database, Salesforce. Collaborate with the CRM teams to build out the prospecting functions in Salesforce for reporting on prospect allocation and portfolio development, portfolio management, portfolio analysis and review, and pipeline management.
  • Develop proficiency in internal operational technology platforms including but not limited to JIRA, DOMO, and Asana.
  • Develop proficiency in wealth screening platforms and managing related data, including but not limited to iWave and GivingDNA.
  • Leverage CRM and other business intelligence tools to provide prospecting intelligence
  • Monitor data quality dashboards to maintain quality of data related to prospecting
  • Support and establish processes with the development team to include prospect management activities (including regular portfolio review meetings and the development of monthly metrics and dashboards).
  • Provide research and analysis reports of major donors and prospects. Analysis will include capacity ratings, indicators of interest in the organization’s programs, and connections to other key constituents such as collaborating with relationship managers.
  • Exhibit expertise in systems and workflows for revenue generating prospecting and methods required to expand the organization’s major gift donor base.

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to take a project from assignment to completion; Ability to manage multiple simultaneous requests for information and prioritize those requests to meet deadlines.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis and research skills, with the ability to effectively translate information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Must be comfortable with shifting roles and responsibilities – someone who does what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to work with complex data, identify themes, present findings and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate confidently and with empathy, both within the Foundation and externally.
  • Extremely organized and able to think about the big picture while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • At home in a team environment, possessing a collaborative, interactive work style with an eagerness to learn from more experienced team members.
  • A self-starting mentality with sound judgment and an ability to anticipate needs without explicit direction.
  • A commitment to civility, customer service, entrepreneurial thinking, and work ethic.
  • A positive, “yes and…” mentality is a must.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems is a plus.

 

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
