Job Title: Annual Giving Director

 

Position Summary:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) is seeking top talent for its Annual Giving Director position.   
The Annual Giving Program focuses on direct fundraising from a base of 75,000+ donors who give between $1-$2499 annually. The Annual Giving Director will drive $25.5M in 2024. At the helm of a fast-growing and talented team, the Director will work closely with fundraisers, Fundraising Operations, and Development Business Team to create year-long fundraising programming with focus on donor experience and pipeline growth. There is additional opportunity for this leader to formalize a Mid-level Giving program. This senior-level position reports to the Vice President of Individual Giving. 


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a comprehensive Annual Giving program raising over $25 million in 2024, with a focus on integrated campaigns that retain, upgrade and convert over 75k donors. Maintain a donor-centered approach in all communications, emphasize thoughtful and timely appeals, promote content that inspires giving, and prioritize stewardship.
  • Direct a highly effective and data-driven Annual Giving Program team driving online and offline fundraising campaigns
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure direct fundraising and digital optimization strategies encourage Annual Giving donor participation, revenue conversion, and are factored into the Annual Giving donor experiences
  • Define business needs and articulate budget requests for sustainability and scalability of the Annual Giving program
  • Drive annual revenue strategy for Annual Giving audiences through the year. Coordinate with Campaign Strategy team to optimize engagement and fundraising campaigns, provide segmentation for each
  • Build and create new program for Mid-level Giving: 
    • Hire and manage two staff to join the Annual and Mid-level Giving team to manage donor portfolios with 500 – 35k+ constituents, stewarding donors through phone calls, videos, personal notes, and other creative outreach
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify new audiences in Annual and Mid-level Giving for portfolio management. Use screening services and giving behavior analysis to identify ownership and outreach priority 
    • Develop portfolio KPIs for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
    • Add and refine opportunities for one-to-one and one-to-few outreach. Evaluate effectiveness of these touch points in the stewardship mix.
    • Identify solicitation, upgrade, and stewardship touchpoints unique to the Mid-level audience
  • Lead ongoing forecasting for the revenue line and all sub-lines, including Direct Response revenue, Sustainer Programming, Social Media Peer-to-Peer Programs, Employee Giving and Third-party revenue
    • Collaborate with Campaign Strategy and Growth and Innovation teams to report on campaign-performance and programmatic opportunities
  • Oversee additional funding opportunities, such as Facebook Fundraising and Employee Giving. Leverage the platform tools to integrate audiences who give consent into MJFF systems and promote strategies for engagement. 
  • Manage a high-performing team at MJFF
    • Develop and evolve scopes of work, ensure growth paths are defined, and provide learning opportunities to each member
    • Promote training and conference opportunities
  • Represent Annual and Mid-level Giving as a stakeholder in org-wide agency work
  • Serve as a positive and unifying figure who can contribute to the development culture at MJFF and exhibit the Foundation's values in daily interactions

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven history of expertise (10+ years) in developing strategies that convert, retain, and upgrade donors that give in the mass-market space 
  • Experience owning revenue goals (ideally over $10M), fundraising, marketing, or communications
  • Demonstrated success building and creating a mid-level giving program
  • Experience managing annual budgets of at least $1M
  • Strategic acumen for donor-centric fundraising
  • Direct experience as part of an annual fund within a non-profit or academic institution
  • Understanding of how Annual Giving serves other revenue goals across a Development eco-system
  • Robust understanding of fundraising KPIs, and how to determine success of fundraising campaigns 
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience managing staff and demonstrated ability to build, manage, and motivate an effective team.  Experience managing a new team and/or defining new roles a plus
  • Experience in the following platforms preferred: Salesforce CRM, Classy, DOMO, Asana 

 


Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
