Job Title: Associate Director, Planned Giving

Position Summary:

The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) is seeking top talent for its Associate Director, Planned Giving position. Reporting to the Planned Giving Director, the Planned Giving Associate Director will manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects. The ideal candidate will have experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding planned gifts from individuals and families. They will work across the Development team to deepen donor engagement and collaborate with advisors to provide planned giving expertise in support of planned giving opportunities.

A successful candidate will feel at home as a member of a dynamic and supportive team and be adept at managing shifting priorities while building and strengthening The Foundation’s impact. The Planned Giving Associate Director will develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with colleagues within Development and across the Foundation.

This role will primarily manage relationships across the West Coast. This fundraiser may be based remotely with regular travel to assigned donors and periodic travel to the MJFF NYC office required. Travel expectations are approximately 25% of the year with the occasional weekend travel or work requirements. Team members plan travel for highest strategic impact; thus travel cadence varies (some seasons are more active than others).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Proactively and strategically manage an assigned planned giving portfolio and prospects
Qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned gifts through personalized contact including phone calls, correspondence, and personal visits with assigned donors
Build strong and lasting relationships with constituents through multiple and meaningful points of contact
Strengthen The Foundation’s presence through fundraising and community engagement efforts
Prepare gift illustrations and proposals for charitable gift annuities and other planned giving opportunities, prepare written materials such as visit strategies/briefings, correspondence, solicitation/proposal, and gift intent form documents
Coordinate outreach, conduct prospect research, track revenue, manage stewardship, and seek additional opportunities for broader community engagement within assigned territories
Perform administrative activities including, but not limited to, high-end stewardship and solicitation mailings, curated communications, revenue tracking, update donor and prospect records, track and record action items and update notes in CRM, internal strategic projects
Contribute to a collaborative team working environment and have a positive roll-up-your sleeves attitude
Travel expectations are approximately 25% of the year with the occasional weekend travel or work requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

History of proven success as a frontline fundraiser in planned giving
Demonstrated success supporting solicitation of or closing planned gifts
Strong time management skills and adept at pivoting to manage shifting priorities
Experience in and basic understanding of a variety of planned giving vehicles, current trends in philanthropy and estate planning for individuals, including tax implications of charitable giving
Be a self-starter with sound judgement and attention to detail
Results oriented with ability to focus on and meet deadlines and goals
Ability to work independently on complex donor strategies
Have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and emotional intelligence
Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. Must have a valid driver’s license
Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
