Job Title: Vice President, Patient Engagement

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for building and stewarding The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s (MJFF’s) investments in patient engagement research and infrastructure to meet The Foundation and field-wide needs. MJFF is a leader in community engagement practices and tools, study participant recruitment and retention, and patient experience data collection and analysis. This position leads a team of strategists and coordinators to build the learnings, infrastructure and resources that enable our Foundation and the Parkinson’s research ecosystem to engage in more efficient and effective patient-centered research practices.

 

The Vice President of Patient Engagement reports to the Senior Vice President of Clinical Research and collaborates with a diverse set of cross-functional stakeholders including all Research Programs & Partnerships departments, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Development, and MJFF executives. This position also serves as a key liaison with external partners to ensure Foundation-led efforts advance research practice and therapeutic development for global patient value.



Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to deliver data-driven, actionable, patient-centered operational and strategic insights for execution of MJFF patient engagement project portfolio, enabling informed decision making, risk mitigation, and transparency toward delivery of program milestones aligned with The Foundation’s mission
  • Coordinate cross-specialty and multi-institution/organization collaborations that drive world-class research and field-enabling learnings. Represent MJFF brand and PD patient community across interactions with partners
  • Elevate the Foundations’ comprehensive perspective throughout collaborative strategy, planning, and execution phases of studies with external leaders to safeguard MJFF’s scientific, operational, and financial interests
  • Lead a team of program managers/directors accountable for operational delivery of assigned portfolio programs ensuring team success across strategic planning and prioritization of activities within each program
  • Key contact for MJFF executives and senior leaders in Research, Marketing and Communication, and beyond. Empowered to manage stakeholders, resolve conflict, and facilitate agreement
  • Serve as a thought and accountability partner to cross-functional initiatives, and track progress against Department, Business Unit, and organizational KPI
  • Lead annual enterprise planning for the patient engagement unit (e.g., prioritization and allocation of resourcing, identifying, and scoping annual strategic imperatives, assessing performance against funding and scientific goals)
  • Create executive-level communications (including presentations and reports) to communicate strategic impact of MJFF’s clinical operations portfolio and ensure cross-functional alignment and coordination against major business unit and enterprise-level programs and projects

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced scientific, medical, or business degree strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience including previous program management responsibilities; demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Highly strategic and innovative thinker with exceptional healthcare acumen; proven track record of success operating at both strategic and tactical levels; able to seamlessly move between both perspectives
  • Expertise identifying short and long-term program needs, creatively formulate plans with cross-functional input, efficiently achieve timely decisions/alignment, and organize and deploy resources
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functionally and drive alignment among the team, with peers, and with senior leadership. Demonstrable level of executive presence
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate program vision and motivate the team; ensures broader organization is aligned with and aware of program strategy, status, and risks

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $190,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
