Job Title: Director of Email Marketing 


Position Summary: 

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Director of Email Marketing position.  Reporting to the SVP, Head of Business Management in the MarComms Operations department, this position is responsible for shaping the email marketing strategy to drive audience growth, deepen engagement, and deliver measurable impact across campaigns. This role is responsible for leading a team that manages campaign strategy, content, automation, and analytics, ensuring that email communications are data-driven, innovative, and aligned with organizational priorities. The role combines strategic insight with hands-on operational leadership, fostering collaboration across business units to advance the Foundation’s mission and strengthen the impact of its communications. 

This position may be hybrid-flex with the opportunity to work out of the Foundation’s office in New York City or based remotely within the U.S. 


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
 

Performance Optimization 

  • Develop and assess baseline performance metrics in collaboration with the Analytics team and set KPIs to measure success 

  • Identify opportunities to continually test and learn (i.e., A/B, multivariate, holdout groups, etc.) to gain audience insights and optimize our use of the channel 

  • Establish a reporting cadence and process to translate insights into actionable plans 

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Governance 

  • Spearhead the contributions of the Analytics, Creative, Content, Automation and CRM teams to optimize email strategy based on data-driven analytics 

  • Build alignment and shared best practices among campaign managers and content leads to refine and streamline use of email as a core conversion and engagement component within multi-channel marketing campaigns. 

  • Partner with the PMO and Automation teams to optimize calendar prioritization and email builds to enable timely and relevant communications across/within audience segments 

  • Take a lead role in creating a path toward a governance structure that accounts for the needs and priorities of multiple business units and Foundation objectives 

Audience Development 

  • Maximize investments in growth and cultivation 

  • Integrate strategies to increase acquisition through referrals, list building, etc. 

  • Develop tailored data-driven marketing and messaging strategies for onboarding, retention, and reactivation 

Innovation: 

  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and tools to enhance performance, including AI-enabled optimization, predictive segmentation et al. 

  • Drive the adoption of innovative methods to expand email’s role in driving business outcomes 

  • Assess and optimize the use of existing and emerging email platforms and tools (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Iterable) 

Leadership and Team Management 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing email marketing team, providing direction, mentorship, and performance feedback 

  • Oversee team priorities, workload, and processes to ensure operational excellence and collaboration 

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with the Foundation’s mission and values 


Qualifications and Skills:  

  • Deep understanding and relevant experience working in audience development, performance optimization, and cross-functional collaboration 

  • Relevant experience in strategic use of email marketing platforms and tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, and Iterable 

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights 

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 

  • Demonstrated strong creative and strategic problem-solving skills 

  • Track record in developing, building and socializing a new specialty within a complex organization 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop team members 


Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $165,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
