Job Title: Senior Knowledge Operations Specialist
Position Summary:
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Senior Knowledge Operations Specialist role. This position sits on the Grant System Operations team of the Research Operations Department. The Grant System Operations team manages the Foundation’s grant management system, Smart Simple, ensuring seamless integration with other platforms to support efficient workflows, data accessibility, and reporting. The team also strengthens knowledge management within the Research business unit by overseeing the governance, organization, and optimization of Guru, ensuring critical information is structured, maintained, and easily accessible to support collaboration and strategic decision-making.
This position will play a pivotal role in enhancing knowledge governance within the Research business unit, managing content, and improving knowledge accessibility to drive operational efficiency and informed decision-making. In addition to developing and maintaining Research’s knowledge base, this position will collaborate with the Knowledge Management Director and other business units to support broader organizational Knowledge Management (“KM”) initiatives, serving as a representative for Research in cross-functional efforts related to knowledge creation, preservation, and accessibility.
This is a hybrid-flex position that will require in-person attendance on a semi-regular basis at the Foundation’s office in New York City.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Knowledge Management Operations (40%)

Enhance and maintain the governance structure of the Guru knowledge management platform, ensuring alignment with best practices for scalability, sustainability, and effective knowledge sharing

Develop and implement strategies to improve knowledge organization and accessibility within Guru, optimizing collections, folders, and cards to accommodate a growing knowledge base

Establish and refine knowledge management processes for content creation, maintenance, and quality control, including tracking updates and collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs)

Stay informed about Guru upgrades and enhancements, advocating for and implementing new knowledge-sharing features to improve usability and adoption across the business unit
Content Development and Knowledge Asset Management (50%)

Collaborate with Research Operations teams to identify and address knowledge gaps, supporting the creation, organization, and optimization of Guru content and other knowledge resources

Develop and manage knowledge assets tailored to external stakeholders, including applicant, reviewer, and assessor guidance, grantee welcome packets, system-related to resources, and policy/procedure documentation, such as budget guidelines

Ensure that knowledge resources adhere to established governance structures, enabling efficient knowledge capture, transfer, and retrieval across teams

Conduct regular knowledge audits to ensure information remains current, relevant, and easily accessible to internal and external stakeholders
Supporting Cross-Organizational Knowledge Management Efforts (10%)

Partner with the Knowledge Management Director to support organization-wide KM initiatives, serving as the Research representative in efforts focused on knowledge creation, preservation, and accessibility across the Foundation
Qualifications and Skills:

Relevant experience with knowledge management platforms, such as Guru, and a strong understanding of knowledge governance and content organization best practices

Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills, with attention to detail and consistency

Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and work with others to develop and refine content

Proficiency in tools and technologies that support knowledge management, such as content management systems or collaborative platforms

Commitment to teamwork, demonstrate the ability to collaborate and manage projects with and through others

Willingness to adapt when necessary, comfortable with ambiguity and flexible to changing business dynamics and priorities
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000. In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
