Job Title: Senior Manager of Planned Giving

Position Summary: 
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“the Foundation”) is seeking top talent for its Senior Manager of Planned Giving position.  Reporting to the Director of Planned Giving, this individual will manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and direct reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding planned gifts from individuals and families. They will work across Development to deepen donor engagement and collaborate with advisors to provide planned giving expertise in support of planned giving opportunities.

The Senior Manager of Planned Giving will be a critical component of helping build and grow the Planned Giving Program at the Foundation. This position will develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with colleagues within Development and across the Foundation.

This fundraiser may be based remotely with regular travel to assigned donors and periodic travel to the Foundation’s office in New York City.  Travel expectations are approximately 25% of the year with the occasional weekend travel or work requirements. 


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage an assigned planned giving portfolio and prospects
  • Secure present, future, and blended/complex gifts through personalized contact including phone calls, correspondence and personal visits with assigned donors
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of innovative strategies to enhance planned giving initiatives and donor engagement
  • Supervise, empower, and challenge a team of fundraisers through active coaching and mentorship, and reflect best practices and trends
  • Partner with Development colleagues to identify and capitalize on planned giving opportunities, integrating planned giving knowledge across the Foundation
  • Support a collaborative, holistic and cohesive fundraising environment, working directly with colleagues on joint strategies within Individual Giving
  • Strengthen the Foundation’s presence through fundraising and community engagement efforts


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Foundational experience supporting solicitation of or closing planned gifts
  • Foundational experience in understanding a variety of planned giving vehicles, current trends in philanthropy and estate planning for individuals including tax implications of charitable giving
  • Foundational experience leading, motivating, and developing a team of fundraisers
  • Strong time management skills and adept at pivoting to manage shifting priorities
  • A high level of energy, self-confidence, initiative, and follow-through
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in easily understandable language
  • A self-starer with sound judgement and attention to detail
  • Results oriented with ability to focus on and meet deadlines and goals
  • Ability to work independently on complex donor strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and emotional intelligence
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed (approximately 25% of the year)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM software such as Salesforce

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000.  In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
