SALARY RANGE: $120,000 - $150,000

 

The Position:

 

The Dean, College of Health Professions is one of four Deans reporting to the Vice Provost under a new, multi- college structure (College of Chiropractic Education, College of  Health Professions, College of Medical Sciences, and Center for Interprofessional Education). This is an exciting and key academic leader position for an experienced administrator interested in leading a growing College. The ideal candidate is a successful academic leader and a capable business unit manager.

 

The Dean is responsible for enhancing the quality, visibility, reputation, innovation, marketability, and operational effectiveness of the College and its programs. Current programs in the College include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Ayurvedic Medicine. New programs are also in development in California and other states.

 

The Dean will be expected to build upon the strong foundation of academic excellence built over the University’s 100+ year history. Remote Opportunity: This position will require building strong relationships across the campus. Candidates for this position will have the option to work on campus, hybrid, or in a fully remote capacity. Travel to campus on occasion is expected in order to build relationships and attend key events and meetings. Travel costs will be budgeted for and

covered by the University.

 

Duties and Responsibilities – Your Mission:

  • Oversee current and future programs of the College; identify new program opportunities.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the academic partnership with EIM (Evidence in Motion) for the delivery of programs in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy (AZ only), and Speech- Language Pathology.
  • Monitor and mentor program leadership including in the areas of budgeting and resource management, faculty management and development, assessment and program review, and accreditation management.
  • Monitor, identify, and implement opportunities for improvement in key operational indicators (e.g., average class size, faculty workload).
  • Monitor, identify, and implement opportunities for improvement in key academic indicators (e.g., accreditation, student outcomes, student support).
  • Ensure effective management of and compliance with programmatic accrediting, licensing, and other regulatory bodies for all College programs.
  • Participate in and ensure the successful completion of substantive change proposals to WSCUC for College programs.
  • Identify and develop partnerships and articulation agreements to maintain and grow College enrollment.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to advance the reputation and visibility of the College and its programs (e.g., partnerships, presentations, service).
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with relevant healthcare partners to expand clinical site access.
  • Assists programs with developing and leveraging Program Advisory Boards.
  • Ensures appropriate representation from the College on University councils and committees, including providing opportunities for faculty development.
  • Oversee College budgeting and planning.
  • Manage supplies and equipment including creation and maintenance of long-range capital plans and supply management processes.
  • In collaboration with Operations, manage classroom facilities, supplies, and equipment.
  • In collaboration with the Center for Faculty Development and Excellence, ensure faculty development and training meets the needs of the College and its faculty.
  • In collaboration with the Center for Interprofessional Education, identify and promote opportunities for both faculty and students in Interprofessional Education.
  • In collaboration with Marketing and Admissions, establish and meet College enrollment goals.
  • In collaboration with Student Affairs, ensures student and academic support meets the need of the College’s students.
  • Lead projects or initiatives at the request of the VPAA.
  • Participate in University and College activities, task forces, and committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree from an accredited college or university and appropriate professional credential/license in a healthcare profession, preferably in one of the current or future program areas of the College.
  • A record of successful administrative leadership at the dean, chair, or program director level, preferably in a healthcare-focused program, college, and/or university.
  • Direct experience managing programmatic accreditation for a healthcare related program.
  • Deep understanding of clinical site procurement and management.
  • Deep understanding of program development, curriculum mapping, assessment, and program review.
  • Experience working with multiple external agencies, such as foundations, local businesses, governmental agencies, and clinical site providers.
  • Significant budget management experience.
  • University level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with innovative program design in healthcare education such as online, blended, accelerated, and competency-based education.
  • Experience in an interprofessional education setting preferred.
  • Track record of successful grant procurement preferred.
